Review: It many ways, Stilove4music and Al Kent is a match made in heaven. The latter's deep love and knowledge of disco, coupled with his impressive scalpel skills, are a good fit for the label that first brought us the essential edits of Rahaan. "Disco Crazy" is in many ways typical Kent - a long, driving, building tweak of a crazy, dancefloor-friendly disco obscurity that's never less than sympathetic to the source material. "Disco Party", a loose, bass-heavy party jam featuring copious amounts of reverb, is equally fuzzy and funky. "Mystic Merlin", meanwhile, is a rock solid, floor-friendly tweak of disco-funk classic "Just Can"t Give You Up". While it has been edited on numerous occasions, rarely has it sounded this good.

Review: The two-track funk/soul edit release from London duo AM KO proved popular on its original vinyl release, and should prove to be an irresistible proposition for digital DJs. Crucially, both edits - of Fred Wesley's "House Party" and Bernard Wright's "Just Chillin' Out" respectively - have a house sensibility but wisely steer clear of adding extra production tricks and needless extra beats. The best instrumental passages are extended, the breaks showcased and the vocals retained. It's simple stuff, but with source material this strong it would be foolish to tinker needlessly. Crucially, both offer more DJ-friendly versions of killer tunes. Job done

Review: The Stilove4music digital bonanza continues with a super cheeky two tracker from Delano Smith under the DJ Mode moniker. The real killer here is "It's Fun To Compute", an old fashioned house bootleg that expertly fuses elements from Kraftwerk's 1981 electro banger "It's More Fun To Commute" and vocal lifts from George Kranz's idiosyncratic pop hit "Din Da Daa". It's fantastically hooky and shot through with original '80s electro flavour, but never descends into cheap novelty. The EP's other cut, "Can You Feel It", offers a solid, filter-heavy house remix of the Jacksons' pop anthem of the same name.

Review: Fresh from putting together the brilliant early house comp 122 BPM, Jerome Derradji pops up on his own Stillove4music imprint with a trio of tried-and-tested reworks. Lead cut "Disconnected" is particularly celebratory, offering a cozy but driving chunk of touchy-feely disco with a European twist. "Whatchadoin", meanwhile, expertly extends a familiar slap-bass heavy disco groove, teasing out a heavyweight groove before dropping into the revelatory vocal. "Adaptive Control", meanwhile, delivers an acid-flecked groove and the sort of spooky synths that suggest that the end of days is nigh. As edits EPs go, Disconnect is one of the more interesting of recent times.

Review: Label boss Jerome Derradji steps into the spotlight on this latest sneaky release from Stilove4music. While previous releases have tiptoed down the thin white line between disco and house, "Play On" is a purist's dream. These are straightforward, ultra-reverential re-edits of obscure, slept-on and long forgotten disco era tracks. They're pretty darn good, too, offering disco heads a variety of dancefloor flavours. There's squidgy, shuffling electrofunk ("Track 4", which should perhaps be titled "Play On" due to the hooky vocal), vocoder-heavy grooves ("Track 3") and two stunning trips into disco-soul territory (tracks 1 and 2).

Review: More from the ongoing Stilove4music digital reissue series. This double-header of Earth, Wind & Fire reworks pits label boss and 'Past Due' curator Jerome Derradji against Brit re-edit hombres OK MA. Both rework "Symptom Of Survival", offering pleasingly different interpretations. OK MA's mix is a breezy disco delight - a relentlessly positive five-minute re-edit with bells on. The snappy beats, sharp strings and delicious grooves all scream "summer anthem". Derradji, meanwhile, lays down a faintly foreboding mix that brilliantly builds to an exhausting climax. It's constructed from little more than a rock-solid proto-house groove and the original vocal, but it rocks hard.

Review: On this killer three-tracker, Stilove4music boss Jerome Derradji joins forces with acclaimed disco digger and studio knob-twiddler Rahaan for a trip into obscurist disco edit territory. The results are predictably good. As you'd expect, all three tracks have been touched up a little for house floors, but still retain much of their original disco charm. "The Way It Goes" fuses heavy disco-funk with a touch of snappy retro Chicago house flavour, while "Energize Me" offers a four-four rework of a ragging old skool electro groove. "Give It Up", meanwhile, is a delightfully soulful disco-funk excursion that's just begging to be played loud.

Review: The Stilove4music digital re-issue series continues apace, with a trio of edits-not-edits from German ambient pop noodler-cum-techno type Justus Kohncke. As you'd perhaps expect, Kohncke opts to use his source material as mere inspiration, offering up three loopy dancefloor bombs aimed more at house DJs rather than disco beards. The greatest example of this is "The Clock Keeps Turning", a sweltering "Good Times" cover that replays the famous bassline on a 303 and uses only a slither of the original vocal. "New Phreeq" takes a similar approach, whipping up a frenzy via a fat but fuzzy synth bass groove and occasional blasts of boogie vocal.

Review: The delivery of another set of Rahaan edits is always cause for celebration round these parts. "On & On" features three more essential peak time bangers expertly reworked by the renowned Chicagoan. The title track is a long, loopy, floor-friendly re-tweak of Mach's "On & On", which utilizes some choice samples from Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff" to pep up the original's hypnotic eurodisco groove. "LuvBugs" offers a string-laden re-arrangement of Bumblebee Unlimited, while "If You Know Like I Know" turns a lesser known Teddy Pendergrass classic into an unashamedly big end-of-night killer. All three tracks are just crying out for major dancefloor rotations.

Review: The Stilove4music digital reissue series continues apace. This time out it's another dose of disco edit action from burly Chicagoan Rahaan, originally released on vinyl back in 2009. "Hit & Run" transforms the Loleatta Holloway & Salsoul Orchestra track of the same name into an epic chunk of deep house-disco. While the original was unashamedly grandiose, Rahaan's interpretation centres on Holloway's vocal, the basic groove and delicious vibraphone parts, stretching the whole thing out to 12 breathless minutes. "Right Size" offers a loose-limbed, clavinet-heavy tweak of disco staple "You're Just The Right Size", while "How Can One Man" is a soaring Philly Soul rework.

Review: Chicago's cheeky Stilove4music imprint returns with a trio of surprisingly rugged acid house jams from Windy City producer Ricardo Miranda. Lead cut "102point7" is an unashamedly ragged chunk of hypnotic late night jack - a kind of steroid-injecting contemporary take on Jesse Saunders "On & On", with extra freakish analogue riffery. "Rotary Cells" is a touch less hectic, placing a spoken vocal musing on the merits of Chicago house slap bang in the centre of the mix. "Greenline", meanwhile, sounds like vintage Detroit techno after a few too many blunts.

Review: Just like buses, you wait ages for a Rick Wilhite release and several come along at once. While we're still enjoying his ultra-deep Analog Aquarium album, Stilove4music drop this enticing set of cheeky house bootlegs. It's typical Wilhite in many regards, turning jazz, disco, funk and soul cuts into loopy, thickset chunks of dancefloor gold. "My Voyage" itself is relentlessly groovy, all heavy slap bass, jaunty pianos and electrofunk attitude. "Don't Ever Let Me Hear You Say" is a sultry slo-mo soul jam, while "Saldubsa Tribute U2" turns a piano-laden jazz jam into a locked house groover. Then there's "All About You", a super-loopy disco workout seemingly designed to melt minds.

Review: Originally out on vinyl in 2008, Stilove4music's collection of supposed "Lost Tracks From Detroit" finally comes to download. Rick Wilhite kicks off proceedings with "Can You Feel Me", a typically hypnotic head-nodder that benefits greatly for some spiralling loops and awkward, off-kilter atmospherics. DJ Marquis' "Head Over Heels", meanwhile, is a classic soulful house excursion that offers a near-perfect balance of New Jersey garage sassiness and Detroitian soul. It's arguably the stand out cut. The EP closes with "What Am I Gonna Do" by TJ Dumas, a floor-friendly cut-up of disco standard "I Want Your Love". If you didn't pick up the 12", don't miss out this time round.

Review: More digital reissue action from the previous vinyl-only Stilove4music imprint, and it's another essential chunk of deep house with extra helpings of slow burning soul. "On My Mind" - available here in short and long versions - sees Patchworks turn Ray Charles' "Georgia On My Mind" into a simmering stew of bossa-house beats, cuddly Rhodes chords and heart-tugging strings. Wonderful. Also included is "Rainbow", Amp Fiddler's delightfully chugging, jazz-flecked rework of Bob Marley's "Rainbow Country". Like Fiddler's other Amplified Knight/Amp Dog Knight works, "Rainbow" is musically astute, impeccably produced and nigh on faultless - not to mention deep as the day is long. Don't sleep.

Review: Before the slo-mo majesty of 2010's rather large "Pill Collins", there was "Lost Jams". Originally released in 2009 on 12" - and now available as a digital download for the very first time - it was in many ways a precursor to what was to come. Listening back, the EP's two tracks have lost none of their charm. "Constant Surprises", for example, sounds like a fusion of Trickski's past and future; the wonky, bass-heavy swing and cut-up production of their early Sonar Kollektiv work, and the hypnotic deepness of their recent material. "Read Your Mind", on the other hand, is just straight deep - all chunky grooves, foreboding loops and bittersweet strings.

Review: Jerome Derradji's excellent Still Music sub-label, Stilove4music, continues to trickle its stunning back catalogue into the digital domain for the first time, and this week it's the turn of Mancunian deep haus don Trus'me. This was the 12" that first turned the world's gaze onto the Prime Numbers boss's brilliant knack for jazzy, sample based house (along with the now legendary Nards CD sampler). And it's "Nards" that opens this release, with the tense strings, funkafied bassline and sultry vocal snatches sounding as brilliant today as they did upon first release in 2007. Add to this the languid title track - predating the current vogue for slo-mo house by some 18 months - and rolling groove of "Good God", featuring a vocal sample of the legendary Teddy Pendergrass, and you have an absolutely essential release.

Review: This is a bit of a treat for digital DJs. "Tony Gets What Tony Wants" first saw the light of day on vinyl back in 2007, and now makes it to download for the first time. Like all of Mancunian maestro Trusme's work, it's a breezy late night delight. The title track itself is a doozy, a kind of paranoid deep house/disco/funk-rock fusion that comes loaded with Trusme's usual soundscape production and, critically, serious dancefloor chops. "Feels Like" cleverly mashes up illicit hip-hop bump and a killer synth bassline, while bonus short "At The Disco" is a crate-digger's dream - 150 seconds of rubbery low end, crazy percussion and sweet vocal snippets. Essential.

The title track offers a superbly hooky blend of Moroder-ish electro-disco back end, snappy house grooves and original disco samples (both horns and vocals, with a dash of piano, too). It's simple stuff, but brilliantly executed. "Something's Up" continues this theme, turning a sultry disco-funk number into an atmospheric house head-nodder. Closer "After Party", meanwhile, goes deeper, blending Larry Heard-ish grooves with filter-heavy disco loops to excellent effect.
