Review: New artist on the jump up block, 2DB comes storming onto the scene with this release on Bassline Smith's Technique Recordings. Gird your loins as this one goes in hard and heavy from the off; a cacophony of bellowing mid range, bleepy 8-bit melodies and punishing bass, this one is an ADHD riddled venture into jump up D&B at its best. "Happy Days" evokes a Hospital sound with uplifting synths, pattering drums and euphoric builds which bubble along for the duration. Expect to hear more from 2DB in future - this one's a killer!

Review: 2db steps up to the plate once again for the Technique camp to deliver a couple of dancefloor bangers for Worldwide Audio. "Swerve" is absolutely massive, with a huge female vocal hook twinned with call and response chord stabs which will bloody the nose of any tune which dares challenge. "1995" kicks off with smooth pads and chiming chords before descending into a jump up roller with more than a hint of Full Cycle about it. This is one for the steppers crew.

Review: Radio 1Xtra and son of jungle legend Kenny Ken steps up with his next musical offering on Simon Bassline Smith's Technique Recordings. "Let Go" draws on drumstep and dubstep, with chopped up vocals, massive builds, Rusko style synth screeches and plenty of brostep muscle. The D&B Rollers mix ups the tempo to the 170-175bpm range, whilst L While shakes things up in his version. Then there's the "More Than Ever VIP" which is a synth sizzled, 8 bit bleeping frenzy before the NSD VIP rounds the package with style.

Review: Radio 1Xtra DJ Crissy Criss shows off his skills in the studio here in the "Now More Than Ever" EP on Simon Bassline Smith's label Technique. The title track pairs a familiar sample (see Pendulum circa '05) with gritty, gnarly bass, jittery synths and pumping drums. "Need Me" is a Circus meets Dub Police style dubstep venture with chirping screeches, grinding b-line and plenty of fun factor. "Gangsta" strips it back a bit and focuses more on clipped percussion and grouchy, squelching bass, whilst concluding cut "Everybody" rounds things off with another dose of brostep.

Review: Always on top of their game, Drumsound (aka producers Andrew Wright and Ben Wigget) team up with long-time collaborator Simon "Bassline" Smith for this epic release on Technique that will no doubt keep them at the top of the D&B tree. Having dropped classics in the past such as "Cold Turkey", "Odyssey" and "Everybody Pump", they still enjoy tons of support from DJ's like Annie Mac and Zane Lowe and "Clap Your Hands" is likely to extend their fanbase even more.

A jump-up mix of beats, churchy piano licks and some fresh gospel vocal samples that break out in the chorus to preach: "Somebody shout Hallelujah, somebody shout amen", it's a barrel load of fun.but if D&B's not exactly your thing there are some excellent versions in different styles to get you on board. The House mix for example is perfectly transplanted to a 130bpm tempo and works really well as a quality electro banger. Similarly, the dubstep mix takes it down to a cool half-step and adds a lot of glitchy bass for good measure. The Phetsta mix is the one that the dj's will want to pounce on first though, as it brilliantly switches between D&B and electro mid-song, making it a valuable tool for effortlessly changing between genres during sets. Yet again Drumsound and Bassline come up withe the goods - there's absolutely no way you won't be feeling this tune after just one listen.

Review: Having flirted with Radio One playlist action and skirted around Top 40 success, Drumsound & Bassline Smith's Technique imprint keep it real by nurturing new talent. Enter L Plus: perpetrator of the more rambunctious side of jump up D&B, his Time Travel EP kicks off with the Camo & Krooked meets Chromeo style venture title track, full of pumping drums, sci-fi samples and 80s synth-pop moments. "Human Condition" is another dance-off with bleeping computer game elements, crunchy drums, warping bass and jungle trumping goodness. "April" starts off with a bold thumping intro moving into another tear out number, before gulping SFX take over in "Digital Sound".

Review: For Simon Bassline Smith's next musical adventure it's over to L Plus, who's joined by trance vocalist Shaz Sparks for this release on Technique Recordings. "Catastrophe" is an epic, trance-infused, drumstep fusion piece with shimmering vocals, smashing builds and breakdowns, pounding bass and bleepy synths. There's a dubstep mix for the heavier heads, plus a tidy D&B mix by Subsonik for the purists. One for the ravers!

Review: Phetsta comes through with the epic trancey roller "Prism" for the Technique imprint, crafting a heady sweat inducing rhythmic thrust of pitched up vocal loops, searing synth flourishes and gut punching bass stabs over a lolloping flex. Contrasting this is the low end stepper "Run You Down" which features the vocal talents of Reija Lee, hidden in the depths of bass and beats. "Disco Dog" sees Phetsta indulge in some old skool junglist activities with excellent results and the EP ends on a high note with the haunting hypnagogic half step dynamics of "Dance All Night"

Review: South East London duo Tantrum Desire get rude and rowdy with their Foreplay EP on Drumsound & Bassline's Technique Recordings. It's no holds barred for the duration as "Play Tonight" gets things started with high-octane energy, a bawdy b-line, cooing vox and power synths. Next is "Tough Love" featuring super smooth R&B style vocal contribution from Jon Reline, which pounds along with grouchy SFX, pumping drum rolls and screeching synths. "Pay Your Own Way" has been doing damage for some time now with shimmying, bleepy SFX, catchy synth riffs and killer vocal hook. Slowing the tempo down to 140 bpm for the final track, "Designed" is all vocal-led slo-mo sleaze with swaggering beats. Huge.

Review: Technique continue in their slew of Radio One bothering tunes with this next offering from Tantrum Desire, which pairs trance-like builds and syrupy sweet vocals with UKF style screeches and bass wallops. Of course, such a track lends itself to a dubstep remix, which delivers with a scurry of bass shudders, wobbles and gratuitous lurches! L Plus also has a go at transforming the original into yet another form, bringing out the bleeps and blips and accentuating the grinding bass. One for the new generation of bass heads.
