Review: A debut release from Greek trio Auditors Domination, "Palace Of Light" is a feast of chilled, dubby production with downtempo trip hop and ethno-funk at the core of their sound. The twelve tracks take in influences from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean, with relaxed jams such as stoner funk of "Throw The Stone" mixing with the Eastern swing of the deeply percussive "Rempeto".

Review: Marking his follow up on the Timewarp roster to 2010's Blaxploitation EP, German breaks masher Freethinker Funk Essence brings out the sunshine with this stylish new single. Laden with '70s funk tools such as fatback drums and wah-wah'd rhythm guitar, FFE tops it off with some Latin brass and Cuban piano parts to create a dizzying a hard-bopping dancefloor slayer. Yomakomba speeds up the tune for an excellent jazz-step remix, while Impuls goes the opposite way by slowing things down a touch for a deep and dubby overhaul.

Review: There's something delightfully different about this latest floorfiller from Greece's Timewarp label. On the face of it, "Power To Groove" is a fairly straightforward deep funk groover that's lifted by some George Benson-ish jazz guitar and a rather nice vocal. Yet listen carefully, and you can hear the swing of classic New York house in the beats and a touch of Kenny Dope in the production. The same can undoubtedly be said about "My Way (Nassau Theme)", which builds the action around a number of well-judged breakdowns. "Floorbreaker" layers up the percussion to take things up a notch, whilst "Hasta Simpare" is classic jazz-house with a delightful Cuban twist.

Review: Back with his second album for the funk heads at Timewarp, Leon impresses hugely with the elegant and smooth "The Man With The Ball Head". Taking in a real mix of styles and sounds, from the '70s flute-rocking funk of "The Date" to the garage rock-influenced title tune or even the sitar-aided trip hop of "Back To Bombay", Leon confidently lays down a cool, chilled set of beats in style.

Review: A large posse of Croatian musicians, who have played together in various formations since 1989, Dogo Argentino's Latin-orientated funk gets a full remix treatment on this new release from Timewarp. Various styles emerge, such as Flatwound's disco-tinged mix of DA's "Step On", Gazeebo's slo-Balearic take on "2 Minutes 2 Midnight" or good old-fashioned popcorn funk, as heard on Frankie Sinistra's pacey mix of "Daddy".

Review: Dutch beat-wrangler Niles Philips gets his breaks out on this latest release from Timewarp Greece. Recalling the Daptones or even Amy Winehouse's production on the vintage soul of "Ill At Ease", Philips enlists singer Tonkin to provide some dramatic, lovelorn vocals to the mix, repeating the formula on the Smoove & Turrell-esque "Nose Dive", while the studio funk of "Rascals of Funk" is given a scratch 'n' cut remix from the Timewarp crew.

Review: Mixing funky breaks with plenty of soul, Belgian nu-funk wizard Zamali dazzles with the slow boogie soul and retro arpeggios of "Blue Mountains", provides warm jazz-funk textures on the bass-poppin' "Jah Youth" and gospel-reared breakbeat on the brass-splattered funk of "Accentuation".

Review: Two Sydney-based funk and disco heads, Jack Priest and Chris Soulos, make up Flatwound. who've play a blinder on this latest single from Timewarp. A true must-have for nu-disco and funky house fans, "Again" is a perfectly structured mix of driving funk guitars, softly softly house drums, filter vocals and an addictive flute 'n' synth line reminiscent of the great Roy Ayres. Valique's remix is just as arresting, crafting a huge build out of the parts, while Flatwound shine again on the beautifully dubby and Balearic slo-mo disco of "Kick Junior".

Review: Back after a long absence, funk outfit Timewarp Inc return with the slinky, sassy soul of "Yuil Disco Breaks". With a live version, recorded by the band as the Djtzinas & The Redgreen Wood Soundsystem, going up against more studio-bolstered, breaks-heavy mixes, as well as a cosmic rerub by Zamali, the funk shines through on each version on this tight single from Timewarp.

Review: From Hungarian collective The MustBeat Crew comes this new release on Timewarp: the mid-tempo, body-popping funk of "The Feedback". Bolstered by percussive guitar loops, scratches and huge shimmering chords, it's a delightful tune that sits nicely between the nu-disco and instrumental hip-hop racks. On a more breaks tip, Niles Phillips adds a bucket load of bass to his mix, while the Gemini Brothers get fresh on their Rhodes-heavy nu-funk workout.

Review: The second collaboration between these two funkateers, "Tonight" is a slick '70s blaxploitation-themed stomper that's nicely aided by some studio beats that bolster the brass, guitars and sampled vocals underpinning the track. Lebrosk turns in a more hip-hop shaped revisit complete with plenty of dub-delay, while German nu-funk breaks powerhouse Telephunken delivers raw drums and simple sine synths on his commanding rejig.

Review: A new journey around German producer Quincy Jointz's Praia De Geriba album, with five new producers tasked with building on QJ's own brand of nu-funk breaks. Audio InFunktion remakes "Chicago" as a mean and menacing breakbeat wobbler, while "Hottie Party" is reduced brutally on Curv's mix to a set of brooding strings and 70s funk horns. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Gunta Kinte's treatment of "6 Million Ways To Swim" is a fast, frenetic and fun mix of 150bpm beats and jazz guitar that - weirdly - works wonderfully well. Fellow German nu-funk phenomena Jayl Funk also drops a more party-friendly take on "Chicago" - using chanking guitars and classic disco bass to drive it along nicely.

Review: In the best traditions of music from warmer climes, "Something About You" is pleasingly slick and comfortable - like the best Naked Music output given a bubbly nu-disco makeover. There's a Downtempo Mix, which ditches the deep house beats in favour of more darting melodies and cocktail-sipping grooves. While pleasant enough, the real killers here are the remixes from Timewarp Inc and Trotter. The former's version builds the action around a delicious live bassline - think Crazy P sipping Mojitos - while the latter opts for snappier beats and a far more straightforward disco-funk vibe. It also includes a very cheeky sample from a classic disco record - see if you can spot it.

Review: Superb funky breaks from Timewarp's Leon, who combines disco brass samples with uptempo drums as well as some genius guitar playing - both electric and acoustic, in a Django Reinhart style no less - on "Da Gypsy Groovy". The Timewarp crew jump on board for a subtle, filter-fuelled remix which makes great use of those guitar skills, while Trotter's mix strips things down nicely for the floor and makes Leon's original a perfect tool for nu-funk DJs everywhere.

Review: Slovakia's Yomakomba is an up and coming Slovak producer who seems to be finding his feet nicely on global beats label Timewarp - following up his debut EP with this new six-tracker for the Greek label. Mixing styles perfectly, there really is something for everyone on Summer Stories - the breezy ska of "Sundance Groove" for example, or the hints of Latin swing on "After Sun", the jazzy hip-hop of "Love Of The Happiness" and even a dub-influenced closer, courtesy of "Evening Moon". A treat of an EP and a perfect crossover between sampled sequences and live virtuoso playing.

Review: Timewarp come through the debut full length from Croat cowbell enthusiasts Dogo Argentino with Diskonautik packed to the brim with ten tracks of live disco funk heat. This loose limbed collective of musicians specialize in a swift paced disco sound which even will encourage even the staunchest disco cynic to drop their shoulders. There"s more than a hint that catching Dogo Argentino perform these tracks live is the best way to experience them, however tracks such as "Daddy" and tightly wound flex of "Mr Groove" will sit nicely in any peak time disco set - with the intrinsic live sound a nice contrast to the dominant Ableton sound in today's disco/nu disco releases.

Review: The clue's in the title - this is hugely funky stuff from duo FD, who combine West-coast brass licks (reminiscent of Herbie Hancock's "Watermelon Man") with raw breaks, thick double bass riffs and bluesy guitars on "Born To Be Bad". As well as a handy instrumental of the title tune, "Soulbreak Joint" is a jazzy workout combining a scatting MC and some scratches, while "Midnight Flight To Paris" recalls the lyrical piano playing of Ramsey Lewis in his prime.

Review: Balkan beats galore on this new release from Timewarp. With plenty of different versions of "Rumbak" to choose from, there's something here for fans of house, reggaeton, reggae and straight up Balkan funk. Our personal favourite though is Max & Gabb's extended version - a mid-tempo mix of grimey kicks, booty bass and gypsy guitars that's subtly done, yet won't fail to punch home on a dancefloor. For a more gypsy-swing vibe, check out the pair's remix of "Gipsyland" which is also included on the release.

Review: A full, track by track remix version of Afternoons In Stereo's album from last year, aided by some of the leading lights from the Timewarp label. TWM for example keeps much of the funk from "Promise" in tact whilst also adding a pleasing nu-jazz lilt to the beats. Athens-based producer George Bitsikas radically switches up styles on his take on "The Mumakil" though, flitting between chilled dub and pacey D&B rhythms. For nu-disco fans, there's also a blinding remix of "Party At Mimi And Dicks" by Brazilian funk talent Trotter.

Review: The second EP from Spanish producer Pedro Ortuno Benito (aka Mr Gagun) features a classy set of remixes of his funky "Set You Off", as well as a new extended version featuring the sexy vocals of Alejandra Barella. Guy Gomez takes the tune out to the disco while adding some subtle electro bass and layering Barella's vocals over it all perfectly. Saul Wolf goes for a more breaks-heavy version, while Van Rubi flips it into a smooth funky house joint, relete with long, edit-style percussion breaks. Fans of nu-jazz will also flip for Nitrobass & Q-rro's sleek mix of horns and wah-wah guitar.

Review: Raw funk breakbeats galore on this fresh release from the Junkie, with his original of "Rock The Funky Beat" melding flutes, classic hip-hop and JB grunt scratches with some hyper-frantic drums. Nick Pride & Pimptones take the tune on a brassy trip for their mix - adding some great sax and trombone solos - while Timewarp Inc. stretches out the beat for a more DJ-friendly alternative.

Review: Trans European express in full effect here as Croatian dwelling German producer Umbo and his production buddy Balatz return to the Greek imprint Timewarp for a burning disco bomb, with remix action courtesy of Russia and Belgium. "Disco Thang" is an up tempo funk boogie bomb, with the looped horns and slap bass elements at the core of the track played off against expertly arranged elements such as string flourishes and a panned flute. Freestyle Records Funkateer Valique places the emphasis on the bass line and breaks up the looped horn for a nice dubbed feel. Veteran Greek producer DJ Kid Stretch takes an old school approach, adding breaks and dropping in his own vocal samples and extra horns for a real b-boy feel, whilst Belgian producer Zamali delivers an uptempo afro funk bomb.

Review: A collective of musicians based in Ontario, Afternoons In Stereo let their many influences shine through on this latest and very lovely album. Taking in nu-jazz, Latin funk and a variety of soulful and downtempo sources, they manage to meld styles perfectly - one listen to "Promise" for example will show their depth and the richness of their songs, taking in St. Germain beats, live double bass and flutes as well as a sun-kissed vocal chorus. Uptempo instrumentals like "West End Satori" are also a delight and give the players a chance to show off their jazz-honed skills. "El Puma" even sounds like a long-lost Kool and the Gang tune and nicely rides a sample from the Lafayette Afro Rock Band's "Hihache". A pleasing mix of styles and full of soul, this is a surprising and hugely satisfying release.

Review: Quincy Jointz funky debut album, Praia De Geriba has gone on to receive huge acclaim ever since its release on Greek label, Timewarp in May last year. Indeed it was such a success that the Greek electronic funk specialists decided to release a remix package of therelease. In turn, that was such a success that there is now a second volume of remixes of the album. Seven different remixers offer their own unique interpretations of the tracks that made the original album such a hit in a collection that spans house, nufunk and dubstep.

Opening with all the playful and uplifting feel of an original Quincy Jointz track is Hamburg's rising nufunk producer Funktomas who serves up a funky and skanking remix of "Trippin." Merging big beats, ska and funk, the German adds his own vibe to the track in the genre bending traditions of the label. Flashbaxx are up next with their remix of "The Place." A slick and groovy slice of house mixed with nu-disco, this is one of the more commercial, conventional tracks on the album. Onur Engin follows with his own nufunk remix of "The Place." The Turkish producer uses e-guitars, uplifting horns and some catchy saxophone hooks to create his electro slasher. Da Wiesel takes on the Brazilian hip-hop of "Super Hero" before Spaniard, Calagad 13 unleashes his 80s infused remix of "Hottie Party." "La Dub Musica" gets two dub treatments to close off the album. JazzKLippa's is a skanking, reggae styled piece of dubstep whereas High Fidelity goes grimier dubstep with dark, wobbling basslines.

This is an album that captures the spirit of the original album but crosses varying genres and styles whilst doing so. Totally fitting for a remix package for both Timewarp as a label and Quincy Jointz as an artist, this is a fun and exciting ride.

Review: Teddy Presberg is an American underground jazz and funk improvisation performer. A guitar player of an incredible talent and blessed with an ability to conjure mass amounts of soul and emotion with his music, Teddy is one of the most exciting acts in an already unrestrained and explosive scene. This compilation is a selection of tracks from his most recent album, Outcries From a Sea of Red that have been remixed and re-edited by Timewarp artists.

Many Timewarp artists have been admirers of Presberg's work and once approached, have embraced the challenges of fusing his work with modern electronic grooves. Following on from Timewarp Inc's opening remix of "Bella's Boogaloo" we get a selection of groove-laden mixes from the likes of Niles Philips, Atfunk, Medras and Quasamodo & Trotter. Each adding their own style and flavour, the overall feel of Teddy's vintage soul sound remains present throughout. Along the way, we encounter nujazz, funk, disco, house and even elements of reggae and dub. To put it simply, this album has a sound all of its own.

With promises of a second volume already made, fans and musicians alike will be extremely excited to see what sounds can be merged next. If this album is anything to go by, then we can expect even more talented artists wanting to get involved and make their own unique interpretations of the legend that is Teddy Presberg.
