Tonal & percussive, open surface, new generation VST instrument
Review:
The Beatstation marks the next step in powerful yet simple sound design and music production from Toontrack. It is not just a drum sampler. It is not just a bass sampler. It is not just a melodic sampler. It is all of these things combined in one powerful but simple window, that puts you in the musical driver's seat combining a variety of functions and features.
Combining drums, bass and lead instruments with drag and drop, REX and MIDI support, the Beatstation is your companion for quickly getting a full beat up and running or for diving into the smallest details of what you want your sound to be, to be able to realize your music, your expression. Just take WAV or MP3 files from any source to create unique and inspiring combinations. You can combine and edit individual slices from your favourite REX files or create playable instruments from a single sound. All this can be done just with a few clicks of the mouse, making the Beatstation a hugely powerful yet easy to use virtual instrument. Do you already have Toontrack EZX or SDX expansion packs? These can be combined and edited inside the Beatstation too. Whether you use it on your portable travelling rig or in a full-on studio context, the Beatstation adapts to meet the challenges of every production situation. It is not tied down to genre or style. It cannot be defined and limited to the use of a single group of musicians or producers. It is constructed with Toontrack's premium components which have been perfected over several years. This software instrument combines the experience and passion of one of the world's best sound design teams. Also included are effects provided by Overloud, the award winning software development company that released Breverb and TH1. The Beatstation lets the new generation music producer freely combine the wealth of influences that are present in the music that drives the beat of the world. When using an SDX or EZX you will get a fixed mix of the microphones available for an instrument, typically without ambience. You will also get access to any MIDI included in the SDX or EZX. Please note: You will need to have EZdrummer or Superior drummer to register an EZX and Superior Drummer to register an SDX. The Beatstations core content library is divided into 3 distinct categories: Lowbit: 45 basses, 48 leads, 385 percussive sounds, 53 REX loops, 25 bass patches & 19 lead patches, 3 complete MIDI arrangements (173 MIDI files) with 3 full kit patches (bass, lead, drums); and Synthetix (18 basses, 52 leads, 750 percussive sounds, 206 REX loops, 24 bass patches & 102 lead patches, 9 complete MIDI arrangements (498 MIDI files) with 9 full kit patches (bass, lead, drums); Organic: 4 basses, 11 leads, 317 percussive sounds, 250 metal guitar REX loops played by Fredrik Thordendal/Meshuggah, 24 bass patches & 82 lead patches, 6 complete MIDI arrangements (362 MIDI files) with 3 full kit patches (bass, lead, drums). With the core content, you are granted instant access to all the acoustic, electronic and resampled instrument samples vital to modern production. Each category contains a variety of kit presets with corresponding MIDI variations comprised of drum, bass and lead parts. Keep in mind that they are all just a click and drag away. The core content come stocked with thousands of MIDI grooves, REX loops, drum/bass/lead instrument presets created from 148 of the popular sounds and timbres from a massive collection of one of a kind, rare, vintage, modern and custom instruments- all meticulously multi-sampled by Toontrack. For the advanced user, the Beatstation contains a number of powerful yet simplified tools for manipulating MIDI, sound design, instrument creation and full mixing. This includes full ADSR, pitching, reverse, sample off-set, note-on/off, mono/poly, 5 part sample/REX loop or slice layering per pad all with individual parameter control, variable swing, flam, transposition, 1/2 x tempo, 2 x tempo and a handy part separation feature for extracting a specific part from within the MIDI file. Expansion pack for Superior Drummer 2.0, featuring 7 x massive drum kits (requires Superior Drummer software)
Review:
The originators of multi sampled drums and Drumkit From Hell, Toontrack, Music presents an all-new SDX expansion pack for Superior Drummerr 2.0: The Metal Foundry SDX.
The Metal Foundry SDX is an all-new recording with Meshuggah drummer Tomas Haake, featuring 7 x massive drum kits, spanning 300000 sound files of raw, single hit drum recordings in the vein of Drumkit From Hell and dfh Superior, covering Hard Rock to Metal, from the early Blues tinged sound of the late 60s to the fragmentation of today's music, from Power through Thrash, Death and Progressive Metal. The Metal Foundry SDX celebrates the Toontrack Music Hard Rock and Heavy Metal legacy of the first Drumkit From Hell, on which the company has built its following. This in turn has spawned such groundbreaking products as dfh Superior, EZdrummerr and Superior Drummerr 2.0. The Metal Foundry SDX was recorded and produced at Atlantis Studios in December 2008 by the original Drumkit From Hell recording team, Mattias Eklund (Toontrackr Music), Fredrik Thordendal (Meshuggah), Daniel Bergstrand (Dug Out Studios) and Tomas Haake (Meshuggah). MIDI is downloadable upon product registration. Toontrack Music were originally started as a production company for composing game and movie soundtracks. In 1999 producers Fredrik Thordendal of Meshuggah and Mattias Eklund of Toontrack Music decided to design a sample library for their own use. They called Tomas Haake drummer of Heavy Metal band Meshuggah to record the drum samples. The library was called Drumkit From Hell. Little did they know that Drumkit From Hell was not only the first true multi sampled drum recording for use with a virtual instrument but that it would also be the start for Toontrack Music to become the worlds premier developer of software, audio and midi for virtual drum and percussion production, spawning groundbreaking products like dfh Superior, EZdrummer and Superior Drummer 2.0. In the time since Toontrack recorded and released Drumkit From Hell our knowledge of sampling drums and designing software has improved vastly and we've built a great following in all genres and with all kinds of users, but our core has always rested firmly on the foundation of those early recordings. In order to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Drumkit From Hell Toontrack release The Metal Foundry SDX. The name has layers of meaning to us encompassing both the beginning, what has come from it and what lies in the future. The Foundry is a place where precious metals are forged and what was started back in 1999 with the Drumkit From Hell recording sessions turned out to be truly precious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=jmP3EFDG5Uw Virtual drum instrument plugin
Review:
The Superior Drummer 2.2 is the professional drum sampler flagship from Toontrack Music. With its excellent sounding sample-engine, its phenomenal realistic room sounds and its unrivaled extensive feature-list, it truly sets the industry standard in contemporary digital drum production.
The Superior Drummer 2.2 has 20 GB of excellent drum sounds for professional music-production. It is recorded with extensive and adjustable microphone-bleed and the unique room sound of legendary recording studio Avatar New York. Mixer presets by top producer Neil Dorfsman (Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Dire Straits, Kiss, Joss Stone, Genesis, John Mayer and Chris Cornell). The eagerly anticipated Superior Drummer 2.2 is a complete overhaul of the original dfh Superior engine and has been re-developed for optimized use with e-drums with more effective use of sample layers and much improved loading times. It includes custom MIDI, played by Nir Z, and, accessed through the all new customized MIDI engine and arranger EZplayer pro, it features stand alone capacity through Toontrack solo. The new interface is reminiscent of EZdrummer with its simple handling and lay out but gives its user layer upon layer of in-depth features to create the ultimate drum track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McJQwAu_aQQ Custom and vintage themed sample expansion pack for Toontrack Superior Drummer 2.0, suitable for a wide range of genres and styles
Review:
The Custom and Vintage SDX is an expansion pack for the award winning Toontrack Music Superior Drummer 2.0 drum sampler. It features extensive stick and brush recordings of a unique collection of drums and cymbals.
The SDX gives everyone from top producers down access to the cream of custom and vintage drums, built by craftsmen from the 1920s right up to the exceptional instrument makers of today, like Johnny Craviotto. Most of these highly prized instruments (like a 1920s Ludwig Black Beauty, or Craviotto Timeless Timber) can only be found in the collections of top studio drummers or hired from rental facilities in the major music centres of the world. Recorded at 2KHz Studio in London using an EMI TG desk used for many legendary recordings of the early seventies including The Beatles Abbey Road and Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon. It is considered one of the best sounding desks ever made. The Custom and Vintage SDX was played by Chris Whitten, the drummer on classic hits like What I Am by Edie Brickell & The New Bohemians and The Whole Of The Moon by The Waterboys. Whitten was hailed as a world class drummer, playing on Paul McCartney's Flowers In The Dirt album and subsequent record breaking world tour, and Dire Straits 18 month On Every Street tour. Chris has also recorded with such varied artists as Johnny Cash, Julian Cope, World Party and The Pretenders. The Custom and Vintage SDX was produced by Peter Henderson who started his career at Air Studios where he trained and worked with Beatles recording engineer Geoff Emerick (Sgt. Pepper, Abbey Road etc). as well as with the legendary George Martin. Henderson produced Supertramp's 20 million selling Breakfast In America, for which he won a Grammy. He has also worked with Paul McCartney, Rush, Frank Zappa, Jeff Beck, Tina Turner and Ringo Starr. Nashville Tennessee themed sample expansion pack for Toontrack Superior Drummer 2.0
Review:
Like it, love it or leave it, Nashville Tennessee is Music City USA. With more labels, publishers, writers, producers, musicians and artists per capita than any other city in North America, Nashville knows a thing or two about great music, and more importantly, great sounding music.
With the city's history & culture so steeped in the art of making and recording music, the team could think of no better place on earth to record a library of drums that would be at home in music ranging from rock to reggae, metal to gospel or punk to polka. Oh yeah... they're good for country & rock too! Introducing the Music City USA SDX, the newest library of drum samples and MIDI grooves for our award winning, industry standard drum production platform, Superior Drummer 2.0. Much like its sibling, the Nashville EZX, the Music City USA SDX found us working with Harry Stinson and Chuck Ainlay, two of the best, most experienced players and producers in the business.

18 Mar 13 Jazz influenced sample expansion pack for Toontrack Superior Drummer 2.0, suitable for a wide range of genres and styles
Review:
We could mention that we set out to record the best Jazz drum library ever made but ended up with something far bigger: drums that transcend the narrow confines of a genre and rather define an era - an age of music spanning from Jazz, Blues to Hip Hop and Rock.
We could mention Blackbird Studio's stock of 1400 microphones, 35 channels of Pultec EQ, 24 channels of Fairchild compression and hundreds of outboard mic/pre channels including Telefunken, Neve, API, RCA and Chandler. Or how this studio not only is the natural choice for the who's who of the music industry but that it is known to lend a documented bit of magic to every project to ever enter and exit its doors. We could even go as far as rant about how drummer and world musician Roy "Futureman" Wooten heard every single hit and swirl recorded as part of a larger whole, as part of a musical sequence rather than as a solitary, monotonous hit and that the result permeates every sample with an intensity and force unheard of. Or we could mention how these sounds incarnate the past, embody the present and at the same time how they will help you shape the sound of tomorrow through Superior Drummer's endless possibilities. We could even boldly proclaim that this library of drums is the most comprehensive ever made, recorded through signal chains of outboard and microphones that would leave even the most seasoned veterans in utter awe. But we think the drum sounds speak for themselves. Jazz influenced sample expansion pack for Toontrack Superior Drummer 2.0, suitable for a wide range of genres and styles
