Review: Long before tool house was popular, Italian producer Gaetano Parisio was exploring the grey area between dense, repetitive house and techno. The title track harks back to that time and sound, with a drum-heavy groove underpinning sweeping chords and a bleeding acid line. The only nod to current trends is the hiss of white noise percussion. On fellow Italian Rino Cerrone's remix, the same drum-heavy, rolling rhythms prevail, but the addition of a prowling bass lends it more menace. A similar approach is audible on "Program Meanings", with a growling bassline and sweeping filters to the fore, but Parisio shows that he isn't stuck on the same sound. "Fake Stuff" is a yelping analogue house groove, its searing acid lending it a distinctive feeling.
