Review: Two UK producers who have a growing following on the nu-funk breaks scene, Niko & Lyall come in hard and menacing with these three new tracks on Upstart. "Sometimes" features some excellent sinuous leads, while "Retro" piles heaps of distortion onto an elastic bassline and tops it off with some piercing synths. "Wow" is kept on the down low thanks to some smooth filtering, but once again it bangs very very hard indeed.
