Review:
It doesn't seem so long since the last album from serial badman Audio but lo and behold he brings us something new to soothe the soul on Ed Rush & Optical's legendary Virus Recordings. "Soulmagnet" is every inch the killer tech-stepping, neurofunk-mashing collection of tracks one might expect. After the intro "Fringe", we are treated to an array of dark, twisted flavours. Particular highlights include "Creature Comforts" with its stuttered, punchy kicks; the epic "Point Of No Return" and of course the title track itself "Soulmagent" with its driving, tech-y energy.

Review:
Audio stunned us with his Genesis Device LP on Ed Rush & Optical's influential techstep label, Virus, last October and now he returns with the follow up EP - four equally superb techno infused sci-fi bangers. Brutally industrial from the off, "The Journey (Part 2)" kicks things off with driving bass and taught synths; "Sanctum" blends sci-fi samples with raw, tough rowdiness; "Prototype" strips it back to bleeps and military drum rolls before dropping into a chaotic Noisia-meets-Spor-meets-Current Value-style frenzy. Final track "Vega" completes the EP. Outstanding.

Review:
A banger from 2003, this classic gets a huge rerub from London producer Prolix on Ed & Optical's Virus label. Already on top form after his Scourge EP, his take on "Get Ill" is just what the doctor ordered - a huge and hectic killer that adds gliding synths by the bucket load to make it an absolute destroyer. Backed up by the Dyke and the Blazers-sampling "40 Channels of Funk", this is yet another essential slice of Virus.

Review:
A re-issue of Ed Rush & Optical's 1998 classic, Wormhole is a seminal album that is an essential for any neurofunk / techstep fans. This re-issue comes at a time when Calyx & Teebee are back on the scene, Spor has returned and so perhaps there will be a darkside revival in D&B again. Right from the off, "Mystery Machine" plunges us deep into the subterranean world of Ed Rush & Optical with its futuristic, sci-fi sound and whomping bass. Watch out for Optical's two solo efforts "Slip Thru" and "Millenium" which are exceptional. "Compound" is another killer cut with squelchy bass and tense, ticking breaks, whilst "Point Blank" is another iconic cut from the album. An essential slice of D&B history right here.

Review:
Currently killing it, both as solo producers and as a team, Switzerland's Optiv and Brazil's BTK drop a new pair of bangers on Virus. "Backlash" makes great use of the classic breakbeat from Jimmy McGriff's "The Worm" whilst filling out the rhythm with some tastefully plump basslines and deep atmospheric textures. "Lurker" follows on nicely with another raw drum set anchoring a stiff groove amongst a sea of darkside pads and sharply filtered basslines.

Review:
Hot off the back of some seriously sick singles such as "Backlash" and "Blindstruck", the terrible two return with yet another aural ambush with this release on Ed Rush & Optical's legendary Virus. This time though, title track "Kingpin" is much more Subwave meets Loadstar, with that characteristic motorbike bassline growling beneath shimmying synths and lashing breaks. The accompanying "Gateway" builds from a quirky intro full of bleeps and cheeps into a low-slung roller with gritty bass, crunchy breaks and hissing hats. A different direction from Optiv & BTK here that's definitely worth checking.
