Review: Efde has only a few releases to his credit, but this outing on Tom Trago's label trumps his previous output. In its original format, the title track combines soaring trance melodies, rolling snare drums and a central riff that gets more and more noisy as the arrangement progresses. It makes for an intoxicating combination and is redolent of "Primary Roots", one of Trago's own, earlier productions. There is an eerie ambient version of the title track, but it's clear from the rest of the release that Efde's real home is out on the dance floor. "Just Did It" is a pulsing, electronic bass-heavy affair, while on "CMP135", he mines a deeper but still driving house sound.

They Don't Know - (4:58) 126 BPM

Review: Tom Trago's Voyage Direct Series has been known to release some of the hottest artists in the house game - Dexter, Maxi Mill and San Proper among some of the label's prized names - but this time it's a newcomer who steps into the limelight. Elias Mazian drops his debut release with a wonderfully cosmic yet floor-ready two-tracker. "Future Times" is a rolling, snare-heavy banger complete with one bubbling bassline, whereas "They Don't Know" is a broken, half-time garage hybrid with some monstrous low-end for you to shake your goods to. Both tracks killer, both of them certified floor-fillers. Highly recommended.

Review: Dutch producer Simon Weiss has been steadily releasing since 2010 and now presents us with a great new one for the Voyage Direct label helmed by celebrated compatriot Tom Trago. Leading the way is "Tele-Vision", a funky and rolling retro techno jam whose melody is vaguely reminiscent of an old Suburban Knight classic. There's then a remix of this track by Klakson head honcho Dexter, who does a good job by not diverting a great deal from the original, just turning it into a more reliable tool version with some sublime analogue synth textures over the top: oh so typical of his style. Moving on, "Ghost" will totally bang the party with its epic arpeggios that gallop away eloquently while there's more throwback sounds on "Super Sub" which is reminiscent of classic Virgo 4.

Lost In The Streets Of NYC - (4:33) 123 BPM

Review: While he may have moved on musically in recent years, Tom Trago still can't escape his 2010 anthem "Use Me Again". To be fair, it is a stone cold killer - a stomping, peak-time friendly disco-house masterpiece that makes great use of elements borrowed from a particularly potent, singalong disco classic. Should you not have it in your collection - and, let's face it, you should - then this timely digital reissue is just the ticket. As it was all those years ago, the track comes accompanied by 2009's "Lost In The Streets Of NYC", a thrilling chunk of cut-up deep house heaviness complete with melancholic piano flourishes, rubbery electrofunk bass, fuzzy chords and driving beats.

Review: Tracey is the new artistic alias of Tom Ruijg, an Amsterdam scene veteran who has previously released on Bangbang, Karat, Hot Waves and Soweso. On this first Voyage Direct outing, he displays a keen knowledge of vintage synthesizers and drum computers. The title track is particularly potent, and features a blend of melodious, Young Marco style new age melodies, ambient techno chords, and distorted, club-ready drums. The EP's other original production, "Earthrise", shuffles further towards Euro-techno/Motor City futurist fusion. On the virtual flipside, Tape Records co-founder Deniro delivers two tasty remixes: a rough and ready, acid-fired 'Mental Mix', and the driving but melodious "Ouda Mix", where Ruijg's new age synths are underpinned by restless drum machine fills and fizzing cymbals.

Review: Boris Werner's idiosyncratic productions have gained him much attention, so much so that his previous release came out on Get Physical - always a confirmation of quality. Here he's back with two more slices of his trademark linear minimal-not-minimal house. "Acid Casino" is the perkier of the two - all chugging loops that slowly escalate over eight minutes courtesy of machine gun snare shots and restrained 303s squelches. At nearly nine minutes, the moody atmospherics of "Upstairs Or Downstairs" makes it one for the head rather than the feet - a perfect riposte, making for one perfectly balanced EP.

Review: Were dear old Mary Whitehouse still around today, she'd undoubtedly be lobbying Voyage Direct to "ban this sick filth". You see, Dirty Talk more than lives up to its' name, with William Djoko adding a sleazy, sexually-charged vocal to his bumpy, low slung, ghetto house-meets-space boogie groove. The Dutch producer's hustling groove, clipped guitars, jammed synths and addictive bassline are pushed to the fore on the accompanying Club Dub, while the included Acapella should please all of those who are too lazy to talk dirty themselves. The package also includes two sterling reworks: a rolling, futurist techno re-invention from Tom Trago in his now familiar style, and a bombastic, acid-laden house mix from fellow Voyage Direct artist Boris Werner.
