Review: Having just issued forth his sixth album Iradelphic on Warp, Chris Clark shares a six-track EP of alternate takes and off-cuts. As ever, there's a confident straddling between electronic and organic sources, whilst rhythms contort with elasticity, but there's an intriguing progression in style from the start of the EP to the finish. "Fantasm Planes" features plenty of nagging synth bravado in a stuttering framework, and "Henderson Swooping" likewise drowns the whispers of earthly matter with a monstrous mechanical stomp. However, by the time you've reached the stunning fractured blues of "Secret Slow Show" (with Martina Topley Bird's infallible croon) you'd find it hard to believe it was the same artist.

Review: Peter Strickland's Italian horror themed thriller flick, Berberian Sound Studio, gained huge praise on its theatrical release in the summer of 2012. Broadcast's fine soundtrack, here finally released on regular home Warp, was a huge part of that success. Broadcast has produced some fine music over the years, but little as explicitly cinematic and emotion-rich, or as shot through with near-crippling tension. Blending their child-like electronic melodies with dark moods, vintage synthesiers, chilling effects and traditional horror soundtrack elements (both Hammer and Giallo), Berberian Sound Studio is nothing less than a triumph.

Review: Following up the runaway success of Crooks & Lovers was always going to be a daunting task for Mount Kimbie, and they've wisely taken their time to come back with a step forwards from a sound which gave rise to the more folky strains of the dubstep aftermath. Sounding fresh and invigorated on their LP for Warp, Kai Campos and Dominic Maker have built on their love of shoegaze indie and brought their component parts into a clearer vision where they used to hide them behind heavy editing and microsampling. There are plenty of reminders that this is a Kimbie record, not least in the winsome melodies that shape the LP, but the duo have succeeded in shearing away their self-conscious trickery to write full-bodied songs that hit on first listen, rather than ten spins down the line.

Review: Given that it's been eight years since the last Boards of Canada album, Tomorrow's Harvest should, by rights, push Daft Punk's Random Access Memories in the hype stakes. Certainly, it's a fine set. During their sabbatical, Marcus Eoin and Michael Sandison have lost none of their power to amaze and impress. Chords drone, samples hiss, synths shimmer and beats swing. There are intense ambient moments and intoxicating, post-IDM dreamscapes. It is in turns icy, warm, introspective and blindingly picturesque. Throughout, Tomorrow's Harvest is impeccably atmospheric, conjuring images of windswept Scottish moors, becalmed Cornish bays and maudlin pagan ceremonies. As comeback records go, it's pretty darn good.

Review: Following a thread started up with his Africa HiTech project with Steve Spacek, Mark Pritchard shifts shape once again but keeps that hyped-up flow going strong with this five-strong EP for Warp. There's plenty of juke flavour in the snapping beats of "Manabadman", bolstered by the patois delivery of Spikey Tee, while "Ghosts" channels a more trap-oriented beat through which to run rambunctious synths. "Duppies" makes for one of the centerpieces with its intense UK rave signifiers, from hoover bass to gruesome D&B stabs before deftly leaping into a jungle tear-out. "Get Wyld" mops up the mess with a sopping sponge of electro synth work hanging from a restrained drum track.

Review: Coming back for that "difficult second album" hurdle, Darkstar clearly went away and drummed up a fresh approach after the attention the got from their debut album "North". Seemingly heading further into indie song-writing dynamics, the range of sounds in use is far more advanced, embracing more organic elements alongside the penchant for warm, fuzzy electronics. There are bold and brash pieces like "Armonica" and "Amplified Ease", but the tendency is towards a twisted kind of folk balladry drenched in head-spinning production. It's a decisive step on, and it's served Darkstar very well indeed.

Review: It's been three years since Jamie Lidell's last full-length, Compass, and in that time he seems to have rediscovered his early passion for distorted electrofunk. Like the track that launched his career, Super_Collider's 1997 machine-funk masterpiece "Darn Cold Way O'Lovin", Jamie Lidell delivers a hard-edged contemporary take on P-Funk that allows his soaring soul vocals to take centre stage. There are audible nods to masters of the genre - Roger Troutman on the talkbox-endowed "Do Yourself A Favour", Prince on "I'm Selfish", George Clinton on the filthy synth-funk of "Why_Ya_Why" - and production that harks back to the days before his pop breakthrough, Multiply. It's not exactly a return to form - he's not released a duff album yet - but it's certainly a riotously enjoyable set.

Review: Autechre has always divided opinion. There are those who consider them geniuses; mavericks who make out-there computer music that simultaneously sounds like a riot in a steelworks, and an argument onboard the International Space Station. Others are less kind, but then their particular brand of crunchy IDM and leftfield electronica is undoubtedly an acquired taste. Exai, their 11th album, stretches out over 17 tracks. As ever, it packs in a lot of ideas, a swathe of mentalist rhythms and a boatload of curious noises. At times it's strangely calming, at others like being smashed round the chops with a metal bar. Those who enjoy their work - and we certainly do - will find much to enjoy amongst Exai's sprawling, feature-length presentation.

Review: Waify Brooklyn duo Hundred In The Hands have been remixes by a diverse array of artists in the past - Tiger & Woods and, most memorably, Kyle Hall immediately spring to mind - and Come With Me continues this trend. The single plucked from their recent Red Night LP for Warp Records is given a breakneck Day For Night remix (147 BPM anyone?), while Lucky Paul and LDFD turn in more sedate revisions. The pick of the bunch however is the rework from semi-mysterious producer South London Ordnance, who turns in a moody steppah dripping with the kind of growling low end and reverb-laden atmospherics that prowl around the speaker cones like rocks in a malfunctioning washing machine.

Review: Erstwhile Global Communication guru and wonderfully unpredictable man about the dance, Mark Harmonic 313 Pritchard has dusted off the old jungle spirit, pitched it down and re-sampled it with a harder dancefloor step. Armed with a groove so booty shakingly beautiful he's supplied a naked instrumental and two MC-led licks, this is 313 at his most sprightly and party-minded. If you're looking for something deeper, darker and MC-free then head for "Dutty Bounce". The name says it all.

Review: Sumach Ecks' music has come out primarily through Warp over the last seven years, and it's safe to say that he has become a pillar of the label's new-found success since 2010. That's because his Gonjasufi moniker is as sparse and immersive as you can possibly get in one single album. This new music on Callus might well be his best and most daring to date, where genres get mashed up and swallowed whole on every track. No one word can categorise this music better than 'leftfield'. Now, we know that doesn't tell you much, but how would you go about describing nineteen sonic experiments that manage to amalgamate noise, lo-fi, techno, and electronica? You wouldn't; you would just jump in and lap it up, which is exactly what we've done. This is our leftfield album of the week. Warmly recommended.

Review: The godfather of electronics, Brian Eno makes a return to Warp Records. Lux, literally meaning "light", is a delicate assortment of subtle harmonics and chimerical programming. As with all of Mr.Eno's work, all of the elements seem to share an inseparable union with each other, one which manifests a specific concept. "Lux 1" is the sound of a new day, with its gentle notes playing over a majestic soundscape beneath it; whilst "Lux 2" enters more desolate grounds, where melodies are dissolved and remoulded to create a spine-chilling sea of sound. "Lux 3" is a similarly meditative musical zone, where notes remain deserted in a melancholic whirlpool of sub-drones; but "Lux 4" is the radiating light at the end of the tunnel - atmospheric and full of emotion.

Review: Warp has really spoiled us with this excellent remix EP from label favourite Clark, featuring two of his mightiest tracks licked and remixed by two of techno's biggest stars. The former, Marcel Dettmann, is responsible for the growth and expansion of the Berlin sound, and as you'd expect, his remix of "Sodium Trimmers" is a high-powered, stripped 4/4 affair built exclusively for the floor. The latter, Pariah, is part of Karenn with Blawan, and his remix of "Banjo" is a broken, stuttering analogue workout with plenty of tripping and cut-throat snares.

Review: As exciting the news about Warp's signature of Nozinja was, the now-standard drip feed campaign that's accompanied it will most likely have vexed those out there that just want to buy some wax man! So the label's exact plans with the Shangaan Electro artist may still be under wraps, but Warp have offered a glimpse into the future with this sublime debut. Fans of the Honest Jon's compilation Shangaan Electro won't really need any additional persuasion but if you are not familiar with the hi tempo brand of lo-fi South African dance music Tsekeleke offers a perfect introduction to the sound. Our tip is the haywire vocal mix on the flip. More please Warp!

Review: While his Numbers contemporaries Jackmaster and Hudson Mohawke have been courting international superstardom (the latter soundtracking Apple ads and working with Lil Wayne and Drake), Rustie has stayed true to his roots. This second full-length - the follow-up to acclaimed 2011 debut Glass Swords - proves that it was a wise strategy. Green Language is a storming set, delivering blends of crunk, wonk-hop, 8-bit electronica, grime and post-dubstep rhythms that bristle with intergalactic synths and glassy-eyed, late night swagger. Rustie has carved out a niche of his own that's increasingly hard to define, but one that guarantees thrilling, next-level music. Green Language proves that emphatically.

Review: Previous remixes in the Nightmares on Wax 25th anniversary series - from the likes of Special Request and JD Twitch - have been fairly reverential, sticking to the sweaty spirit and sub-bothering bleep techno feel of the original material. Here, Ricardo Villalobos and Max Loderbauer take the opposite approach, turning in radical revisions that recast "Aftermath" as a minimal techno after-party anthem. There's very little of the original present, though what is used - most notably the vocal, cut-up and reversed, plus a few notes here and there - is brilliantly woven into the fabric of their wonky, 18-minute Dub. Adventurous DJs should check the thrillingly odd Electric Jazz Version, which re-animates the track as a quirky tech-jazz wig-out of epic proportions.

Review: Kwes cast an alluring spell last year with his debut album Ilp. Dreamy, hazy, naval gazing constructions designed for the latest of hours, Warp has done itself proud with these switch-flipping remixes. Joe Goddard finds glittering positivity in the swamp introspection of "Purplehands", Tom Vek adds a more structured floor-friendly groove to "Rollerblades" while Patten reverts "Purplehands" into a reverse-rolling moment of pure density. Kwes even adds to this narrative himself as he subdues the shimmers of "Hives" and recruits the lyrical skill of "Jeremiah Jae" for "Hives II". Beautiful.

Review: It's rare that an electronic album is the biggest album of the year, or at least the most hyped. That's certainly the case with Syro, Richard D James first official release under his Aphex Twin moniker for some 13 years. So, is it any good? For starters, it sounds like an Aphex Twin album. Listen through to the 12 tracks, and many of his familiar staples are present - the "Digeridoo" era rave breakbeats, the mangled synth-funk mash-ups, the intoxicating ambient-era melodies, the warped basslines and the skittish drill & bass style rhythms. There's madness, beauty and intensity in spades. In other words, it's an Aphex Twin album, and - as so many have pointed out since the album's release was announced - there's no-one else quite like Richard D James.

Review: What a year it's been for Warp. So far in 2014, other than Aphex Twin's Syro, the label has released music from Squarepusher, Oneohtrix Point Never and Jackson & His Computer Band to Plaid, Nightmares On Wax and Rustie - with another album by Clark forthcoming. Now one of Glasgow's most colourful producers (check out the cover art), Hudson Mohawke returns to home base with his first official release since the Satin Panthers EP. As usual there's a kaleidoscope of sounds to be heard on Chimes alongside hip hop beats, footwork skitters and gangster 'woof' vocals, and if "Joy Fantastic" from Butter is a Hud Mo fav, then "King Kong Beaver" should fill you with hope that a follow up LP is on the way.

Review: Arriving with some truly mind bending artwork from controversial guro manga artist Shintaro Kago, the new Flying Lotus album You're Dead! Is quite a lot to take in upon first listen. Some 19 tracks deep, Steven Ellison uses all the available space to draw you deep into the afterlife as he sees it, veering through heavily psychedelic jazz passages and next level beat explorations that demand you pay full attention. The iconic Herbie Hancock leads a high profile cast of contributing artists to Fly Lo's fifth studio LP and his most ambitious to date with Kendrick Lamar, Captain Murphy, Snoop Dogg, Angel Deradoorian, Thundercat and Niki Randa also adding to what is a transcendental listening experience.

Review: Comprised of Fatima Al Qadiri, Nguzunguzu and J-Cush, Future Brown are something of a US production supergroup, arriving on SoundCloud last year with the brilliant "Wanna Party". The subject of no small amount of hype, the group have evidently been happy to wait for the right label to ally themselves with, resulting in their first official release arriving on respected UK stable Warp. This release combines that first track with their follow-up "World's Mine" along with two alternate versions. If you haven't heard the group's forward-thinking blend of bass, hip hop and R&B yet, this offers a great place to get acquainted.

Review: It is some 13 years since Chris Clark delivered his debut album on Warp, the rather quite brilliant Clarence Park. By his prolific standards, he's been relatively quiet in recent times; this seventh full-length is his first for two years. While there are occasional experimental interludes, for the most part Clark is a playful affair, with the St Albans-born producer delivering a set of tracks that layer fuzzy chords, distorted melodies, spiraling electronics and exotic instrumentation atop scratchy techno grooves. There are, of course, plenty of twists and turns along the way, with the dystopian electro of "Banjo", eccentric ambience of "Snowbird" and the surging, almost symphonic electronica of "Beacon" standing out.

Review: Tapping up the fertile Lisbon scene and its proud individualistic electronic music, Warp Records presents the first volume of CARGAA in a move that will no doubt break the sounds of these artists through to a wider audience, much as happened with the Chicago footwork producers on Planet Mu's Bangs & Works compilations. DJ Marfox and DJ Newdyt Fox kick the EP off with a searing blend of peak time hype full of pealing leads, off beat percussion and subby booms. DJ Nigga Fox meanwhile takes things a little slower, plays down the synth lines and lets the percussion come further forwards in a head-spinning melee of polyrhythms. There's also string laden emotion from Blacksea Naoo MAya, and a sprightly slice of wonky house from DJ Ly-COox proving that in Portugal's capital a whole lot of influences feed into a very unique melting pot.

Review: What a productive and satisfying time it is to be an Apehx Twin fan. Previously only available as a bonus track for the Japanese edition of his recent album Syro, "MARCHROMT30a Edit 2b 96" is more than worthy of a standalone release and so Warp have decided to issue it packaged with another two tunes. The lead track is a marvelous ballad of warm, crunchy production flair and heart wrenching melody, packed full of dynamic twists and playful fills. "XMAS_EVET1 N" follows in a similar Syro-compatible path of boogie-tastic synth lines, plaintive pads and crisp, funky drums. "MARCHROMT38 Fast" presents an alternative mix of the title track that simply ups the pace, but keeps everything else mighty similar.
