Review: German DJ Von Boyen has dropped some bombs in recent years, including remixes of The House Moguls and The Beatrabauken. This EP on the Still Cookin' label sees him carry on the good work. The title is apt ? "The Test" has some nice, harsh breakdowns, as does "Gungung", which almost takes off into the stratosphere at points. This is smart, well-produced electro and each of the four tracks are well worth checking out.

Review: San Fran's Idan Beck gets deep on "Brick", his latest release for the good people at Still Cookin' records. After a subtle build-up, Beck drops a mean bassline which incorporates a chunky dubstep wobble, whilst keeping the beats electro-shaped and the melodies floaty and atmospheric. Fab's remix is pure deep house though - with a tranced-out synth line providing the focus for this driving slow-burner.
