Review:
Fausten has also been putting music out under the names Monster X and Stormfield, but this is both his first work under the Fausten alias and for the Ad Noiseam label - a collective going strong since the turn if the millennium. "Portal" opens things up with slithering drone infusions and bursts of noise from all angles, sounding like the inside of a spaceship engine. The LP develops in similar fashion but introduces far-out, sporadic beats such as on "Kranial" or "Punishment", where the term 'jungle' is completely shredded to pieces. "Internal Dialogue" is another highlight, sounding something like Aaron Dilloway at his most daring, but the real treat comes from Dadub's remix of "Punishment & Evisceration", where malicious kicks are shot out with pure energy and almighty grit. Heavy and alluring hardcore-leaning sound sculptures.

Review:
The ever-explorative Astro:Dynamics serves up another electro-acoustic maverick to hassle the nerve-endings in the form of Lotide. With no previous form, it seems that the Brooklyn based producer is tapping into a realm of beat production that favours strung out samples, found sounds and avant-garde romance to great effect. The woozy swoon of "Window Light" is accessible as much as it is bizarre, while "Diamond Plum" soothes as it stimulates in between fidgety hits of percussion and gently cooing chords. If the moves of crews such as Young Echo has been tickling your synapses then Lotide should slot in neatly alongside them.

Review:
Signals' stunning 2010 work, "Gauss" gets a long-awaited digital release, probably their best yet and a solid addition to London's Trace catalogue. All four pieces are gorgeous, wide-screen visions of sound, starting with "Ferrar", where the balance between storm and tranquility is consistently juxtaposed throughout its 22 minute loom. "Quonset" is shorter but nonetheless powerful, diluting Signals' energy into more minute sonic details, while "Vetrino" takes a considerably more aggressive tone thanks to its arpeggiating growl of synth swirls. Last but not least, "Austfonna" takes us on a thirteen minute journey through cavernous feedback loops and treacherous, FX-laden bundles of modular madness.

Review:
Zero confirms what this writer had long thought about Subjected: he inhabits a world where darkness reigns. Indeed, the tone on Zero is predominantly bleak; from the white noise of "M" and the slowed down, scraping rhythm of "Vx800" to the hammering drums and slamming rhythm of "Tool 1", the wild analogue yelps of "SD 1" and the searing bass and stepping rhythm of "Vault 101", the album is not designed to chill out at home to. But that doesn't mean it is throwaway or disposable, and alone the epic chord builds and sheet metal percussion of "Concept 3" is more powerful than a warehouse full of drone albums.

Review:
Friedman and Liebezeit are back with the fifth instalment of the Secret Rhythms series. It's all about gnarly percussion and sultry, ethnic harmonics with this pair, and "240-11" is one of those wacky drum arrangements that only these two can conjure. The same goes for the rest of the LP: "130-11" breaks its drum pattern entirely to create a jittery, heads-down number; "105-09" goes on a sort of middle-eastern hip-hop flex with its rattling percussion and mystical acoustics; whilst "120-12" certainly pays homage to the dub school at which these two have certainly studied and passed with flying colours. Another essential release from these two great minds - avoid at your peril...

Review:
This latest album by Bpitch Control boss Allien is a long way from the label's minimal, sometimes trancey roots. It sounds like the author has grown up musically, and LISm flows through a series of mood pieces. Although this special edition divides the whole 45 minute piece into discrete chunks, this writer listened to the work as one continuous track, and this is how it works best. Beginning with what could be the sound of demented monkeys wittering away, it moves into jangly guitars and blissed out vocals, before a series of isolationist bleeps kick in. From there it moves from late night jazzy sax, dense drones before kicking back into deep, ethereal electronics. It's a major artistic triumph for Allien.
