Review:
Given the label's cultivation of previously unheralded talent such as Raime and Dalhous, a new name on Blackest Ever Black is always going to be an enticing prospect. Alexander Lewis seems keen to maintain a low profile, but A Luminous Veil is one of the most striking debuts in the field of industrial electronics we've heard in some time. Supposedly created using only synth, microphone and pedals, and apparently recorded in one take with minimal computer processing or post-production, it's a varied set from start to finish; opener "The Third Room" and "Figure Moving" both sound like synthesized power metal, while "Mirror Fragment" creates a foreboding drone landscape; "She Demands Attention" meanwhile places what sounds like a short wave radio monologue amidst squalling guitar feedback. With shades of the material coming from Dominick Fernow's Hospital Productions and the more extreme ends of Editions Mego, A Luminous Veil is essential listening.

Review:
Every time a new NNA Tapes release comes out, we shiver with pangs of acoustic delight; Justin Meyers makes his debut for the imprint and does so in pure NNA style, bridging aspects of musique concrete together with ambient and drone. This is displayed in the sporadic and desolate plain of "Albuterol Auteur", a piece so brimming with emotion that it's rather difficult to pinpoint its sonic glory without fully indulging yourself in its 10-minute revelation - a diverse and morphing collection of modular goodness. The same goes for "Drone (No Stasis)", an AFX-reminiscent work and one poised to cause serious commotion with the analog nerds out there...watch out for this guy, he's capable of some serious patching.

Review:
An Ambassador For Laing sees the Edinburgh-based duo of Marc Dall and Alex Ander further explore their new sound as Dalhous, having previously surfaced with film score influenced gothic pop under the Young Hunting moniker. As Dalhous, the pair has traded in the Young Hunting sound which perhaps sounded a bit too close to Blackest Ever Black label mates Raime for an approach more explicitly concerned with lurching industrial rhythms and sweeping orchestral vistas. Across the eleven tracks on the album, Dalhous explore soundscapes that feel dreamlike yet there's always a sensation matters could take a wholly more foreboding turn at any moment. Standout moments include the bristling instrumental beats of "Who's Here You're Here I'm Here..." and the hazed out finger snaps of "The Cruel Practice Of Art". Overall the album marks another compelling entrant into the Blackest Ever Black canon.

Review:
Gold Panda's Notown label welcomes new talent Hannes Rasmus to their fresh roster of artists with Analog Ist Besser. "An Einem Donnerstag Im September" is a beautiful house track with a gorgeous set of percussion segments and one hell of a bassline - ranging from UK bass to balearic moods, while "Analog Ist Besser" contains some of the bounciest synth chords we've heard in a while. "Wid Sind Hier Nicht In Detroit, Dirk" aptly pays homage to the Motor City's techno flex, where Rasmus beefs up the beats and turns a little bit darker, whereas "Die Idee Ist Gut Doch Die Welt Ist Schon Zu Weit" brings in a serious dosage of electro muscle to the picture, finishing off the EP in fine style.

Review:
Returning to Nicolas Jaar's Clown And Sunset stable after his debut in 2011, Valentin Stip is delving into more of his folky electronica with excellent results. "Wit(z)" floats suspended in a murk of melancholic elements before a more discernable rhythm cuts through to bring the track into focus. "Hiathaikm" is a more low-slung affair that revels in mournful keys and a delicate beat, while "Angst" is a bold study of reverbs and the vocals that fuel them. Across the whole release, introspection is the driving force, reaching for a rich spread of instrumentation and sound sources through which to weave a sad but engaging tale.

Review:
London producer Kelpe has built himself a reputation for heavily textured slant on instrumental beats, first surfacing on DC Recordings and releasing three LPs and numerous singles through the iconic label run by J Saul Kane. More recently found impressing for the likes of Black Acre and Svetlana Industries, Kelpe signals a sea change with the launch of DRUT Records, his own label through which he will release a new album, cannily titled Fourth: The Golden Eagle later this summer. DRUT opts for a soft launch with this three track Answered EP which sets the tone nicely for Kelpe's new LP and arrives just as the first rays of spring sunshine beam through the Juno office. Listen to the title track and it's no mere coincidence, a breezy beataholic's delight that feels like fidgety, unstable cousin to FaltyDL's recent ubiquitous number "Straight & Arrow".
