Review:
Given the label's cultivation of previously unheralded talent such as Raime and Dalhous, a new name on Blackest Ever Black is always going to be an enticing prospect. Alexander Lewis seems keen to maintain a low profile, but A Luminous Veil is one of the most striking debuts in the field of industrial electronics we've heard in some time. Supposedly created using only synth, microphone and pedals, and apparently recorded in one take with minimal computer processing or post-production, it's a varied set from start to finish; opener "The Third Room" and "Figure Moving" both sound like synthesized power metal, while "Mirror Fragment" creates a foreboding drone landscape; "She Demands Attention" meanwhile places what sounds like a short wave radio monologue amidst squalling guitar feedback. With shades of the material coming from Dominick Fernow's Hospital Productions and the more extreme ends of Editions Mego, A Luminous Veil is essential listening.

Review:
It's another meeting of different Italian disco generations as cosmic disco veteran Daniele Baldelli and young(ish) hotshot Marco Dionigi team up for another joint EP. "Cosmic Efficacy" is a linear arpeggiated electro-disco journey to the stars, complete with electro-housey drum fills. In its "Slow Motion Remix" guise the tune is even spacier and highlights it's Moroder-isms even more. "Parallelo" on the other hand is much more abstract, with retro films samples woven over a coarse, electronic backdrop that resembles distorted cosmic interference. Far out!

Review:
Best Available Technology debuts on the always impressive Astro:Dynamics following previous turnouts for Opal Tapes, alongside fellow newcomer OND TON and Further Records who released the Further Tracks album earlier this year. The clue is in the title on the forthcoming Excavated Tapes 1992-1999, Vol. 1, with the eight tracks originating from a collection of tapes BAT producer Kevin Palmer found in his attic. The tapes held years of unreleased drum machine experimentations Palmer had quietly produced in the '90s which never saw release. Crossing the realms of ambient, industrial and techno, these tracks are essential listening for anyone into the recent transmissions from the Opal Tapes camp and Oneohtrix Point Never.

Review:
Some two years after his last LP, Bibio is back with Warp unfurling more of his tape-warped wisdom for those more reflective moments in your life. It's a mellow affair at nearly every turn, from the distant shoegaze malaise of "Dye The Water Green" to the purposefully MOR folk of "Raincoat", but there's still some cheeky fun to be had in between the more introverted spells on Silver Wilkinson. For example "You" gets busy with radio-busting vocal and orchestral snippets with an end result that feels compatible with the more imaginative corners of mainstream hip hop and R&B production. Really though, listening to Bibio is all about getting wrapped up in the pastoral dreamworld he inhabits, where songs can be songs, singers can be singers and sound sources can come from anywhere.

Review:
Friedman and Liebezeit are back with the fifth instalment of the Secret Rhythms series. It's all about gnarly percussion and sultry, ethnic harmonics with this pair, and "240-11" is one of those wacky drum arrangements that only these two can conjure. The same goes for the rest of the LP: "130-11" breaks its drum pattern entirely to create a jittery, heads-down number; "105-09" goes on a sort of middle-eastern hip-hop flex with its rattling percussion and mystical acoustics; whilst "120-12" certainly pays homage to the dub school at which these two have certainly studied and passed with flying colours. Another essential release from these two great minds - avoid at your peril...
