Planet Mu have dropped the first tantalising morsels of information regarding their latest signing, The Host, with a track from their self-titled debut album, entitled “Org” uploaded to YouTube.
“Org” hints at another artist strongly influenced by juke, continuing Planet Mu’s mission to release records influenced by the underground sounds of what is currently Chicago’s most fertile music scene. The Host however, seem to offer a distinctly darker take on the genre, combining loose, furious rhythms with a brooding low end and cinematic textures, almost what a collaboration between King Midas Sound and DJ Rashad might sound like, and is an exciting glimpse into the forthcoming year of releases from Juno Plus’s #2 label of 2011.
The Host is scheduled for release at the end of March 2012. As ever, when more concrete information emerges from the Planet Mu stable, we’ll have all the details here on Juno Plus.
