It has been announced that the 15th edition of the Red Bull Music Academy will take place in New York City later this year.
The much respected talent scouring project, most recently held in Madrid, has taken place in cities such as Toronto, London, Seattle and Barcelona since its inception in Berlin back in 1998, and has been instrumental in helping further the careers of musicians and producers such as Cosmin TRG, Flying Lotus and Jackmaster to name but three.
First held in New York back in 2001, the news of a return to the five boroughs will likely ensure a record number of applicants, given the Academy’s current and well deserved high profile as well as the romantic nature that surrounds New York City and its undeniably strong musical heritage. Set to take place from September 30 to November 2, applications for the academy will be open from the beginning of February and will remain so until April 2, 2012.
