Alex Ridha is a busy boy. Having just finished producing the brand new Chilly Gonzales album, the man known to sweaty dancing throngs as Boys Noize has revealed that he is launcing a sub-label and will be on knob fiddling duties for the upcoming Spank Rock LP.

Where to start with Canadian ivory tinkler Chilly Gonzales? His famed piano talk shows, where he plays up the role of Jewish supervillain MC with aplomb? Or perhaps his long running love affair with electroclash and its offspring electro house? Or his Guinness world record for longest piano solo? (27 hours, 3 minutes and 44 seconds, if you’re asking). It doesn’t matter really – the man is a leftfield genius, a talented musician, and, above all, an entertainer.
His new album, the Ivory Tower, is on the verge of release, and features German electro producer Boys Noize aka Alex Ridha on production duties. As well as showcasing Gonzales’ mastery on the piano and Ridha’s impressively subtle production nous, it also contains some of the best lyrics in recent memory, on lead single “I Am Europe”: (“I’m socialist lingerie, I’m diplomatic techno, I’m gay pastry and racist cappuccino” ). Juno Plus caught up with Chilly to discuss Ivory Tower, playing to sloppy ears and why Tiga is a ham.

Alex Ridha AKA Boys Noize burst onto the scene in 2007 with his storming debut Oi Oi Oi. Lumped in with the electro acts of the same vintage (Digitalism, Justice et al), he has since gone onto to pursue his own path – first by starting his own imprint, and then releasing an excellent (and noticeably evolved) second album in 2009, Power.
Considering that we have just posted a featured chart from Alex’s bestie Erol Alkan (the two of whom form the occassional musical ménage à trois with Canadian ivory tinkler Chilly Gonzales), we simply had to ask his partner in crime too…

Artist: Sebastien Tellier
Title: Sexuality Remixes
Label: Record Makers
Genre: Disco/Nu Disco
Format: Digital
Buy From: Juno Download
Apart from being the proud owner of the finest beard in the music business, Sebastien Tellier also has a couple of stellar albums under his diamond encrusted belt, most recently 2008’s Sexuality. Record Makers have now released 16 killer remixes of songs from the album, featuring the likes of Floating Points, A-Trax, Boys Noize, Moulinex and Breakbot. Ed Banger’s moody maestro SebastiAn opens the release with his rework of “Sexual Sportwear”, which showcases the glitchy, compressed electro sound that he does so well. Aeroplane take things back to 1984 with their Italo influenced interpretation of “Kilometer”, before label mate Kavinsky applies his sensual touch to “Roche”. Other highlights include Arpanet’s dark and brooding mix, Floating Points’ dubstep injection and Kasper Winding’s slow and contended jaunt along “Elle”.
