Metro Area man Morgan Geist will follow up his 2010 Storm Queen hit “Look Right Through” with a second single featuring the vocalist Damon C. Scott.

Parisian motor fetish duo Bot’Ox will release “Overdrive” on I’m A Cliché next month, and to celebrate we’re giving away the Morgan Geist remix.

It’s been eight years since Brooklyn duo Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani released their eponymous album as Metro Area. Drawing on R&B, disco, boogie, house and techno, it not only stood the test of time, but is now rated as one of the finest underground dance albums of all time. After a trip to London for the Red Bull Music Academy, Morgan spoke to Juno Plus editor Aaron Coultate about Metro Area’s new “bubblegum” sound, his own solo work and the era of disposable music.

Hot on the heels on the Metro Area’s almost unbeatable showing in Resident Advisor’s “Best of the Decade” polls for both tracks and albums, the duo have announced they have a follow up half finished.

It’s been all about the DJ Charts this week, with amazing new selections from Claude VonStroke (vinyl/CD ), Groove Armada (vinyl/CD and digital), Kelpe (vinyl/CD) and Fuckpony (vinyl/CD) amongst others.
We’ve also got three new genre podcasts, namely dubstep, electro house and minimal.
Over at Juno Records, the 12” of San Serac’s return to the disco fold has been hot property, with the Morgan Geist remix on the flip a sure fire winter warmer, and the Matthew Burgress & Jolyon Green Originals Vol 4 limited edition CD has proved popular too.
Over at Juno Download, the heavyweight Goldie remix of Calvin Harris was always bound to be a hit. In fact it was a dominant week for drum and bass, with Blu Mar Ten’s album and the Critical Sound compilation topping the album charts.
And remember, we still have up to 75 per cent off over 10,000 7”s, 12”s and LPs in our autumn vinyl sale. Get in there quick because once it’s gone, it’s gone.
Happy hunting,

Artist: Hot Toddy

Belgian label Eskimo teased us with “I Need Love’s” inclusion on the superb Cosmic Balearic Beats Volume 2 mix a few months back, and now Hot Toddy’s slow burning disco gem gets a full release.
Hot Toddy is Chris Todd, Nottingham-based guitarist and part of the production team behind Crazy P, and his first solo release in three years is a dark, moody piece of disco-noir.
Ron Basejam’s deep vocal takes the track to another level, while the typically brilliant dub mix by Morgan Geist sees a deep, rumbling baseline bounce off twangy key stabs.
