After a marketing campaign that lasted what seemed like half a decade, Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories finally arrived this week.

We’ve been waiting several years for an album from Kyle Hall, and this week he finally saw fit to deliver The Boat Party.
Despite some stiff competition, one 12″ stood out as our record of the week thanks to its incredible remixes.

The most enjoyable release of the week proved that the brashest tracks can sometimes arrive in somewhat understated packages.

The coming together of two of modern electronic music’s most intriguing minds provided the highlight of our week when Actress met Legowelt on Clone Jack For Daze.
This week saw Pépé Bradock take a rare foot outside of his Atavisme label with a new record on the Acid Test imprint.
It seems as if everything the young Anthony Naples touches at the moment turns to gold, something he’s carried through to his new label endeavour, Proibito.
Despite the shortened week due to the approaching Easter weekend, there were still plenty of records to be getting excited about.

“Only a momma’s boy cares about artwork!!” That might be the opinion of Omar S on the matter, but there was only ever going to be one image at the top of the week’s rundown of releases.
This week was one of those weeks where the amount of records we wanted to buy far outweighed the amount of money in our wallets.
Undoubtedly this week’s biggest album was the long awaited debut from Space Dimension Controller.
Without a doubt, the pick of this week’s bumper crop of records was the debut album from Function.
Bleak sounds were the order of things this week, as eagerly awaited records from Samuel Kerridge, Shifted and Prurient all headed up the best releases.
It seems almost impossible to go through seven days without the arrival of another Danny Wolfers track at the moment, and true to form, another 12″ arrived from the producer this week on Unknown To The Unknown.
The week was begun with the surprise announcement of Levon Vincent’s return to his Novel Sound imprint for another 12″ of the producer’s very singular house music – but it didn’t last for long.
This week’s two biggest records resulted in an extensive testing session of the Juno office hi-fi’s subs, and the one that arguably caused the most damage was the new record from A Made Up Sound.
It might have been something of an unofficial week of cassette related features at Juno Plus, but that other supposedly redundant format proved itself to be in rich health too.
Much like last week, these 7 days saw a host of surprise announcements, not least an album of unreleased Four Tet material that the producer gave away for free via Soundcloud.
While the volume of vinyl releases this week may not have been huge, this week’s modest haul was more than made up for in terms of variety.
Although January is traditionally a time of record drought, we were greeted on our return from the festive season by a clutch of releases which slipped in at the end of the year that could easily have made our Best of 2012 lists.
