Review:
The Nightdance EP is the exact point where Pete Gooding and Chris Coco meet. Not only does the EP combine Coco's trendsetting, cutting edge ethos with Gooding?s more commercial, big room sentiment but it also serves as the audio overview of the pair's joint musical journey so far. The two producers met one evening behind the decks at Ibiza?s sun kissed Cafe Mambo, another poignant factor considering the summery feel of this EP. Following further live dates together, the pair started to throw their own parties at The Player in Soho. Known and loved for its eclecticism, the night also brought the two producers closer together musically. Following a few hazy post-The Player sessions at Pete's Camden pad, their collaborative production was ready and primed for a release as we set off into the summer months.

"Nightdance" conjures up all the images and emotions of a summer's evening at places such as the aforementioned Cafe Mambo. It has a relaxed, bouncing house groove but with a space disco feel that gives it a sense of laid back euphoria. Pete Gooding himself makes his first vocal appearance with an equally blissful soft and hushed vocal. Tokyo based Max Essa turns in sexy, hypnotic remix with an early proto-house, while Tony Humphries gets the groove going with wonderfully live sounding percussion. Toby Tobias however, widens the appeal by stripping the track of its sunny flavour and replacing it with some minimalist disco grooves. Gooding and Coco return to close the EP with "The Player." Again featuring Pete?s vocals, this is a mid-tempo burner that keeps the groove laid back and contented. This time though, the track is awash with acid overtones, pointing to the era of house music that both producers keep close to their hearts.

Slotting perfectly onto Greg Wilson?s Nang offshoot, Pete Gooding and Chris Coco bring some dynamic, feel good future disco to our summer. The Nightdance EP is sure to keep outdoor terraces and day time parties on the boil for the next few months.
