Review:
Initially seen as a slightly comic side-project of Hot Chip's Joe Goddard, 2 Bears has really built up momentum over the last year. In hooking up with fellow DJ and journeyman Raph Rundell, Goddard's managed to create a separate identity away from his Hot Chip work as the duo evoke all shades of '90s house, from the gentle and soothing, dubby opener "The Birds And The Bees", punchy early single "Bear Hug" (which still sounds like it's been vocalled by Frank Bruno) and garage-house throwbacks such as "Ghosts And Zombies" and "Work". There's even a touch of SBTRKT-esque chilly 2-step on the zombie funk of "Increase Your Faith" and Jamie xx-evoking tropical-step on rousing closer "Church".
