FRIES & BRIDGES - Against All Odds (Front Cover)
Review:
Way back in the dim and distant past, Paris-based Robsoul boss Phil Weeks and San Francisco's Hector Moralez joined forces to make music. That was 2002. Since, they've released a string of singles on a variety of labels. Against All Odds was initially released on vinyl way back in 2004, but still sounds spookily current. Both "One Hand In The Pocket" and "What's That Rhythm" are typical of their collective style, an energetic fusion of San Fran deepness, Robsoul-ish boompty glitchiness and Todd Edwards-ish cut-up garage. While the former's alien noises and pulsating beats will do the business, it's the garage-goes-deep house of "What's The Rhythm" that really shines.
