Is Future Classic becoming Australia's answer to DFA? If their recent releases are anything to go by, then quite possibly. This three-tracker from Brisbane-based four-piece Mitzi could quite easily have been released by James Murphy's revered New York imprint. Mitzi's blend of lazy disco grooves and anthemic pop hooks is reminiscent of DFA's own Holy Ghost - admittedly with a sunnier disposition and typically Australian breeziness. All three tracks are excellent, with lead cut "India" and the slower "Morning Light" - which comes complete with some excellent Tom Tom Club synths - arguably the stand-outs. These guys will be worth looking out for in 2011, without doubt.
