Review:
Stockholm based newcomer Boska delivers his first EP on Norwegian label Love OD Communications, home to disco oddballs Mental Overdrive. If it initially seems odd that this label is releasing what is, for all intents and purposes, bass music, then that initial suspicion soon gives way. Taking the light percussive nature and colourful analogue palette of Nordic cosmic disco and applying it to a template of bass and funky, Boska manages to create something quite unique; "Arrival" combines a bright kwaito style melody with rolling percussive rhythms not unlike Prins Thomas's more upbeat cuts, while "Extraperennial" is a more grounded production, utilising a punchy ring-modulated bass and 2-step skip.
