Review:
It's been more than ten years since the last material was released by Emmanuel Top, but clearly as this and other recent releases on Attack show, little has changed. As "Assemblage" so effectively demonstrates, the French producer still has a way with crafting raw but snaking grooves, the intermittent bursts of dense claps adding to its functionality. However, Top's most memorable attribute is also audible on "Assemblage" and midway through, a wonderfully nagging acid line insinuates itself into the arrangement. It has little relation to the 303 sounds that were pioneered in Chicago, but its relentlessly repetitive nature is impossible to ignore.
