Review:
Everything about this release screams "must check", from the tempting premise - mystery well-known UK producer makes classic Chicago jack for Creme - to the Larry Heard-meets-Virgo Four vibes of the four tracks on offer. The beats and basslines are authentically vintage, and the simple riffs, chords and melodies bubble seductively. There's a touch of early Nu Groove (and yes, we know that was an NYC label) about the likes of "The Outer Limits" and "Keep On Searching", whilst "A Hazy Memory" pairs aquatic low-end with the simplest of synth strings to great effect. It might hark back to a bygone age, but it's as fresh as house records come. Highly recommended.
