Review:
The second part of the Black Box presents Transmissions series contains an impressive selection tracks from credible artists across the board, including DJ Madd, Data, Headhunter and Kryptic Minds. Focused on deep, minimal dubstep with plenty of soul and substance, the 13-track album kicks off with Data's thoughtful, mournful little piece "Fall Of Phaeton" which blends stripped back soundscapes with melancholy strings and well enunciated beats to huge effect. Later on we get the more punishing basslines of Truth's "Birds (feat Dutty Ranks)" and Biome's explorative "Space" with its powerful drum kicks and warping subs. Shouts must go to Kahn's hypnotic "Way Mi Defend" and of course Headhunter's "Projector". Stunning.
