Review:
It sounds like house music's past is being brought to bear on Break It. While Ibiza-based DJ Moudaber favours what could be loosely described as a minimal approach, the dense, rolling drums and edgy vocal samples are pure 90s New York house. It is no coincidence then that the label has chosen one of the originators of New York dance music to rework the title track. Collaborating with Mike Frade, Victor Calderone delivers a filtered take on the original, albeit with a more menacing underlying feeling than the original offered. Moudaber
applies the same dense, drummy approach on "Don't Touch My Junk", and in case there was any doubt about the release's tribal house credentials, veteran producer Santos adds a frenetic feel to the rhythm and more abrasive percussion on his version of "Jack".
