Ever dwelling in peculiar spot on the techno map, Andy Blake never tries to please any but himself with his strange approach to making driving dancefloor mashers. "Cave Paintings 3x" certainly doesn't sound like much else out there at the moment, largely due to the endlessly repeating fuzzy synth line. It's a simple trick that steadily builds into ever-weirder realms through not much more than subtle modulation. "Cave Paintings 3y" meanwhile opts for a bassier, more rubbery synth to provide the weirdness, while the beat is instantly more prominent. It's still out there on its own, but also easier to imagine in the mix with less outcast tracks. Highly recommended.
