This debut single from French duo Cocoa has been getting some major rotations online. It's not hard to see why. In its original form, "Get Down On It" is the kind of fuzzy, bass-heavy, scratching-clad, horn-boasting jazzy instrumental hip-hop jam that used to be all the rage a few years ago. Upholding the best cut and paste traditions of hip-hop, it gains much of its power not from the beats - which are on the boom-bap side of the spectrum - but its choice samples. The remixes are tasty, too, with a head-nodding vocal version (featuring Greg Green), Mr Fuzz's Patchworks-influenced Nu-Disco Mix and the breakers-friendly Feathered Mix impressing most.
