Cheekily titled outfit Rey & Kjavik have chosen to stay anonymous, despite bagging high profile releases on Kindish/Get Physical and now Compost Black Label. Whoever they are, the three tracks showcased here are pretty tasty. With their shuffling grooves, spoken vocals and touchy-feely midtempo rave synths, "Listen" and "All Alone" sound like icier, atmospheric takes on the Maceo Plex/Visionquest school of deep house - casually cool and loose, but with enough energy to hold a dancefloor. "Disconia", meanwhile, throws in some tactile synths and rush-inducing retro-futurist motifs for an altogether more uplifting listening experience. Impressive stuff; expect more goodness from these guys in coming months.
