Paul Arnold's Fat! label has come a long way since its days as an outlet for shamelessly cheeky breakbeat records. These days, Arnold and his crack team of A&R monkeys seem to be focusing more on the sort of hazy late night tracks that fuse contemporary bass music with classic house. That's certainly the case with this two-tracker from mysterious upstarts Wolf Club. "Desverre" sounds like classic US garage given a UK funky twist - all Todd Edwards style cut-up vocals, treacle-thick organs and skippy percussion. "Roland Garros" takes a similar retro-futurist approach, delivering intoxicating vocal builds, touchy-feely riffs and pleasingly deep atmospherics.
