According to his bio, German DJ/producer Domenique Xander earned his stripes playing hip-hop, before switching to house sometime around 1990. Here, he delivers an EP of stargazing deepness for Fruit of Life. Opener "Spacetime" could arguably be described as horizontal house. While it bobs along at a solid tempo, its warm combination of sparse, sparkling elements, woozy chords and nu-disco grooves suggests laidback, eyes-closed listening rather than drunken shape-throwing. "Ramontique", co-produced with pal Tobias Ruffler, goes even deeper, sounding like Dam Funk producing spaze-jazz. On "Sunday", Xander wipes the sleeping dust from his eyes and stumbles towards the dancefloor with a decidedly hip-wigglin' chunk of intoxicating deep house.
