Review:
Miss M J Coles adds impressively to her flourishing production career with Don't Put Me In Your Box, a stellar four track drop on the trusty Hypercolour imprint. Lead track "Dub Child" emerges from the fuzzy ether into a dubby 115bpm refrain that is notable for some subtly intricate kicks; if you like your house music swampy then this will hit the spot. Alongside it Coles indulges in some acid flecked manoeuvres on "Cutting It Fine" which similarly operates rhythmically at a low centre of gravity. It's tracks 3 and 4 that retain the real gold however in the shape of the decidedly murky "Parallel Worlds" which filters London vibes through every pore from the brooding female vocal to the finely poised drum programming to the playful melodic smudges.
