BEKESCHUS - Firefly (remix EP) (Front Cover)
Review:
It appears that the Bekeschus brothers have been immersing themselves in music from their home country, Germany. "Firefly" is characterised by dubby beats and that sense of creaky repetition that Force Inc and Basic Channel once excelled at, but the urgent, insistent filters sound like Ian Pooley during his techno phase. The remixes are also influenced by established narratives; label owner Elliott Dodge drops a hard, tribal groove, tempered by spacey pads - the kind of ethereal techno that Aubrey and Mosaic were known for. Quantec's versions revert to dub influences, with the first remix based on a tough rhythm and the second focusing on the kind of chugging groove favoured by Modern Love.
