If you're after some party-minded breakbeat that doesn't resort to obvious samples or cheap tricks, this expansive collection of all-new cuts from Funkusol Records should hit the spot. Kicking off with the decidedly ruffneck flavour of DJ Axe's "Breakbeat Junkies", Fresh Beats more than delivers on its promise. Aside from the fact that the vast majority of the artists involved are unknown, highlights come thick and fast. For heady thrills, choose between the disco-matic funk of "It's All Good" by Robinson Grooves, the sweet hip-hop hustle of Bialson Hajsy's "Can You Dig It" and the electrofunk-meets-wobble of Funk You Very Much's "Cannabis & Wine". Really, though, it's all good.
