Another instalment in this re-issue series duly arrives, featuring 13 remastered cult cuts in their original extended glory. Initially concentrating on disco, volume three in this series explores where, in the 70s, disco flirted with soul and funk and got pretty sweaty in the process. The best examples of this are the stripped-back "Can You Dig It" by Eddie Drennon, the guitar and synth solo-heavy "JP Walk" by Sound Experience and the famous "Salsation" by David Shire. Many of the tracks featured here have surely been plundered for more famous samples, but hearing the tracks in their true form evokes images of the type of mythical 70s New York nights they once soundtracked and of which we can only dream.
