Review:
In its original form, "Get Back (To Soulful Music)" is a heartfelt plea for sweet musical purity cloaked in the scratchy beats, cosy organs and languid jazz guitars of classic instrumental hip-hop (think Guru). Here it gets remixed by a slew of Cold Busted friends and acquaintances. Most impressive is Mister T's Jazzlab Remix (nice), which layers oodles of George Benson-ish guitar over a bumpy breakbeat rhythm. Elsewhere, check the Aim-ish melodic hip-hop groovery of Poldoore, Clouded's deep take and the moody, classic Ninja Tune vibes of 1st Lieutenant's bluesy trip-hop rework.
