Review:
Like the first volume, the second instalment of Great Carnival is loosely based around the concept of integrating South American sounds and influences into modern electronic music. On Tube & Berger's "Prohibition" and Hernandez's "Confetti" this idea manifests itself through the inclusion of celebratory horns, Mowgli's "Abacaxi" shows its love for Latin samples through the same vocal layered on top of itself until it creates an irresistible cacophony, and the rippling bass of Jean Claude Ades' "Latin Fever" drops unexpectedly into a celebratory piano riff. Not everyone gets in the carnival spirit however, and Andhim's "Holz Ist" and Rainer Weichhold's "One Willi For The Road" reference disco-tinged tribal and MANDY-style neo-trance melodies.
