Talented techno producers don't fade away, they just go off on a new tangent and return emboldened. This seems to be the case with Diego, who made his name at the start of the noughties with storming releases for Kanzleramt. It's fair to say that Hope signals a radical stylistic shift. The title track is a dubbed out tribal house groove, but its seductive strings and celebratory chords show that Diego hasn't lost touch entirely with his techno background - something that the deep space pads of "Stargazers" also make abundantly clear. However, Hope favours a more diverse approach, which is articulated on "Me, Myself & Moog" - a jacking track underscored by an electro funk bass.
