Review:
Mancunian party promoters Hoya:Hoya's first dalliance with the murky business of releasing records was memorable; Lone, Krystal Klear and label boss Illum Sphere all chipped in with killer cuts. For Volume 2 they call on an equally talented trio, namely Lorn, Eliphino and Ras G, to provide an eclectic range of tune's that nicely represent the party's open-minded ethos. Eliphino's "Don't Try Be" calls on an ethereal vocal snippet to act as the sonic centrepiece while synths sway around it with an almost imperceptible hint of menace, while Brainfeeder alumni Lorn drops the epic stutter of "Stranger" - our pick of the three tracks - and Ras G and The African Space Program tune into some rattling sub bass on the appropriately named riddim "Speaker Smash".
