From one of America's most venerable deep house labels comes a release that covers a wide range of styles. I-Robots' "Streets Of Dongguan" is more stripped back and bass-heavy than much of Balance's back catalogue, while Jordan Fields continues to explore this theme on "Pink Lillies", where dubby drums and thunder claps prevail. However, the most rewarding tracks on I Robots occur when styles and sounds intertwine. Federico Gandin's grandly titled "A Sonic Day On The Milky Way" has ties to Balance's deep house past thanks to its breezy synths, but is rooted in a percussive techno base, while I-Robot's take on Klein & MBO's "Last Call" fuses jacking rhythms with the classic Italo synth hooks.
