Like all great ideas, the thinking behind It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing) is fiendishly simple, but Le Jockey deserves praise for thinking about it first. In essence, the artist has put together a bumping backing track and has sampled wholesale both Louis Armstrong's voice and his trademark trumpet playing. One can only assume that they received clearance for the samples because his unmistakable, velvety tones and seductive playing are by far the most memorable elements here. Despite this, as the legend himself says, it would mean very little if it wasn't for the shuffling, swinging groove underpinning his outpourings. Expect Swing to hit the mainstream charts.
