OBLIVION - Mental Illness (Front Cover)
Review:
A collection of aggressive, wobbly stompers from Oblivion here on 'interdimensional dubstep' label Betamorph. The EP kicks off with "Mental Illness", beleaguered with distorted evil doctor snippets, manically crying "you are insane", "schizophrenic" "mental illness" and other such diagnoses, cohesively matched by heavy wobbles, disorientating screeches and thumping kicks. "Raw Trash' adds a dose of heavy metal aggression to the proceedings with driving b-line pressure and low-end grit. "Keepers Of The Earth" is all taut metallic sounds and strained, almost Borgore like tension. "The Orchid Flower's" misleadingly pleasant intro is disturbed by further grotesque eruptions and the apty named "Whomper Stomper" concludes the EP. Solid.
