Review:
With Chicken Lips partner Andrew Meecham enjoying considerable solo success with his Emperor Machine project, it was only a matter of time before Dean Meredith branched out on his own. Metaphysical Translation is his first solo full length, and as you'd expect, fans of Chicken Lips' distinct take on dub disco and late night house will find much to enjoy. Predictably, there are epic, low-slung electronic disco workouts aplenty (check the 11-minute "Shower Show"), alongside a delay-laden mix of proto-house grooves, bassbin-bothering retro jackers, E'd-up piano house and, most impressively, authentic sounding NYC synth boogie (the brilliant "Right On Your Love").
