The mighty Cut Copy recently returned with third album Zonoscope and now drop one of the highlights, the mesmerising "Need You Now", with a trio of hot remixes in tow. Detroit's favourite son Carl Craig typically works up a masterpiece that roughly follows the chord structure of the CC original but otherwise goes off on its own, immaculately structured direction. DFA's resident synth-nabob Gavin Russom also plays a blinder by tempering the chest-beating euphoria of the original by wrapping the vocals around a disco/half-step beat fleshed out with fluttering Krautrock synths. Architecture In Helsinki take the prize for originality though - completely transforming the song into a slow Richard Hawley-meets-Roy Orbison-meets-Leonard Cohen swoon-fest. Random as hell, but trust us, it works.
