Novation 49SL MkII 49 Key Semi Weighted USB MIDI Controller Keyboard
USB bus powered MIDI controller with 49 semi weighted keys, Mac & PC compatible
The SL MkII has been designed to give you complete control over your music making software. Novation have worked with each of the main DAW manufacturers to make sure each of the 56 knobs, faders and buttons control the things in your software that you need them to control. The SL MkII can directly control your plug-in instruments and FX , you also get an Italian made, semi-weighted keyboard mechanism.
Novation have worked with the major software companies so when you want to control instruments and effects, you simply click on the thing you want to control, touch the knob, fader or button, and its instantly assigned! Mixer and transport control also work seamlessly in all major sequencers. You can also instantly assign knobs, faders and buttons to any VST/AU/RTAS/TDM plug-in using the same touch, click, assign system. So Native Instruments, Waves, FXpansion, etc can be instantly controlled.
The SL MkII comes with Automap control software. The Automap is a piece of software that comes with all Novation controllers. It has been designed to make the job of assigning your hardware controls to various software parameters quick and easy. Automap enables knobs, faders and buttons to instantly control plug-in instruments/FX, as well as your sequencer's mixer, transport controls and more. Open a plug-in instrument/FX, and you have instant access to all the plug-in parameters. This allows you to assign knobs, faders and buttons, by simply clicking on the software parameter, and touching the control.
Novation know that producers, musicians and sound designers want hands-on control of their music software without the headaches that come with controllers. The SL MkII uses Novation's Automap control software to solve these problems. With over 56 assignable controls, you need to be able to assign things quickly, and keep track of which knob, fader or button is controlling which bit of your software.
Some DAWs/sequencers have their own learn function, which allows you to quickly assign controls to things in the software. Automap allows you to learn the SL MkII's controls to all 3rd party plug-in instruments/FX too (like UAD, Native instruments, etc) This includes VST, AU, RTAS and TDM format plug-ins.
The SL MkII shows you exactly what software parameter you are controlling, and the value or amount. Touching the touch-sensitive knobs and faders, brings up names (and values) of whatever they are controlling on the giant LCD display. Automap's software edit page shows you a graphic of the entire control surface, with every control labelled, on your computer monitor. LED rings around the knobs instantly show the value of whatever they're controlling, and each button lights up when switched on.
The SL MkII will give you transport and mixer control in all major DAW/sequencers. You can also get instant control of external plug-in instruments/FX (like Native Instruments and FXpansion which are not included with your DAW).
