Review:
Tobias Lutzenkirchen's first release back in 2005 is a piece of contemporary electro house history as it included the first ever remix from Boys Noize. Whilst Tobias' career has not been quite as stratospheric as Alex Ridha's subsequent to that, Lutzenkirchen's prolific nature across a slew of aliases in the subsequent years has secured his reputation amongst Germany's electro house elite. Lutzenkirchen's Phuture Disco Vibes, his twelfth release for Great Stuff, is an apt demonstration. The title track takes funkafied chops and melds them with a filtered minimal groove which builds and drops in all the right places. Koen Groeneveld's remix straightens things out, intertwining a reverberating siren around metallic rhythms and thumping bass. Elsewhere "Summer Smile" sees a soaring sample from a disco classic intermittently disrupt the Latin-tinged patterns and sultry piano riffs whilst "Mauro Jay & Me" has peak time written all over it.
