Review:
Having previously impressed with some killer re-edits, Whiskey Disco man Sleazy McQueen pops up on iconic Manchester deep house imprint Paper Recordings with a trio of original productions. There's much to admire, particularly lead cut "We Need To Reconnect". While retaining some of McQueen's usual disco/boogie sassiness, it offers a piano house journey that's both delightfully breezy and authentically old skool. Elsewhere, there are more hints at McQueen's disco and yacht rock past, from the low-slung, crystalline flavours of "Rolling Me By" (all clipped guitars, icy melodies and fat electric bass) to the slo-mo analogue bounce and drifting melodies of "Under My Spell".
