Review:
Who can say no to a soulful vocal over the top of a summery house beat? Defected obviously can't, which is why not only have they released this future classic, and also chucked in a basket full of top mixes to go with it. Anyone who heard their 2008 track "He's So Real" will know what to expect from the production duo of Eddie Boom and Pup Donald Bolding. Teamed up with the sublime gospel-reared voice of singer Renee Smith, the Maestros' original mix is a joy to behold, putting those incredible vocals centre stage and giving it the perfect backing.
The mixes that come with the release all stay true to the vibe of the original whilst also adding their own distinctive touches. The "Peak Time" mix by Master Kev, Tony Loreto and Jacko for example is extended out to 10+ minutes and has some wicked strings and organ solo's added to give it weight. The MuthaFunkaz mix focuses in on the piano and gives it even more soul, while the Light On The World mix filters the vocals and gives the beat some extra juice. Whichever mix floats your boat, it won't take long for you to fall in love with this tune for a long time.
