SIMONLEBON - 5 Of A Kind EP (Front Cover)
Review:
Simonlebon (no, not the Simon le Bon) shares a similar ethos to that of his Luv Shack stable mates; specifically, he sees much benefit in working with others. So, this typically atmospheric, fluid four-tracker of nu-disco influenced deep house features a quartet of collaborations. First, he joins forces with Lee Stevens for "All I Can", a string-laden trip into teary-eyed, rush-inducing lusciousness. "Second Chance", with Domino, is, if anything, even deeper; any deeper, and they'd touch the centre of the earth. Jakobin hook-up "Can't Do Without You" is an altogether jauntier affair, all soft-focus garage revivalism and shuddering drum machine hits. Even better, though, is "So Many", a formidably tough and energetic hoedown with old pal LeSale.
